Couching Experiment

I told my husband I wanted to try out couching. He said I was already pretty good at it. 🙄

Anyway, I got these couching feet for my long arm a few years ago.

I used some cheap muslin and a batting scrap and quilted a grid for a base.

There are video tutorials on couching and I watched a few before starting. Then I grabbed some cheap acrylic yarn.

Hmmm…..I need practice, but I can see the potential here.

Filling in that cactus took a while. My barrel cactus just looks like a ball of yarn. 😂

This is what the back looks like.

I forgot an apostrophe. 🤦🏻‍♀️ Oh, well. Next I decided to see what would happen after a trip through the wash.

I was worried about distortion, but it seemed to come out okay.

I’ll definitely be playing with this some more soon.

Have a great day!

Thanks for sharing your experiment Katy. Really interesting. Got me thinking about crazy patchwork and all the embellishing the Victorians loved to add to those quilts.

So, it seems to give the impression of chenille. Nice!

That’s pretty neat!! It came out nice from the wash. It would look good with chenille too I’ll bet. Hugs,
