Done! I am glad to have a true finish this week. I used what I had on hand for this quilt, so perhaps it should be called, Make Do.
After loading on the long arm and basting the edges, I quilted a wavy line down the first row of HST blocks. Then I echoed that on both sides all the way to the end, adding a curve here and there.
Individual lines don’t look great, but it’s the overall texture I was going for.
I like it, but I don’t love it. I like the piecing, I’m less happy with the quilting. I used leftover binding strips to finish it off, all by machine.
Here are a few photos taken after washing.
It does have the masculine look I was going for. Have a great weekend!

I really like the irregular aspects of that quilt – and the quilting just adds to the look. The “after washing” pictures look even better! I’m sure that it will be much loved and appreciated!
I think the overall effect of the quilted wavy lines is great. Perhaps it’s one of those designs that you have to step away from to be able to appreciate it? We spend so much time less than arms length away from the quilts we make that it is often difficult to get the ‘big picture’ and the impact a quilt will have when viewed from across a room.
Your new quilt has the look you wanted : a masculine look for a
boy or man! you had succes in a few days! How do you menage that. Great.
I like the quilt AND the quilting SEW much!!
It turned out great. I like the wavy lines.
It looks amazing!! I love it. Hugs,
I was thinking as I read your post..that’s an awesome guy quilt! The colors, the straightforward HST solids (no fussy prints)and the quilting! Just right, in my opinion!
It looks so great – and the wavy lines – I really do like that!! it added such crinkliness when you washed it up! It is perfect for snuggling!
I think you achieved the look you were going for. It’s a great quilt — I’d even like to snuggle under that one!
