Last fall while walking the dogs, I found this on a curb for the trash. I headed home and came back with the Jeep. I asked the owner if I could take it and they were happy for me to cart it away.
Its a mid century modern piece by the designer, Arthur Umanoff.
I gave it to Daughter #3 for her birthday with the promise that I would help reupholster it. I still know next to nothing about upholstery, but clearly that has never stopped me.
We are redoing it in this white leather.
This project is way over my head. I have the parts for one of the three seats sewn and I hope to get the rest done today doing can take them to her tomorrow. I’m praying this turns out!
I’ll show more photos when it is done.
Have a great day!
Hi Katy! What a great treasure you saved. I’ve seen your previous reupholstery efforts and know for sure that you’ve got this. Oh man, I can hardly wait to see this complete. Your daughter is going to LOVE this piece. I am jealous – in a good way that means I’m happy for her. Rock on! ~smile~ Roseanne
I can’t wait to see it! You are so brave!
Wow Katy, you are brave! Your piece (or your daughter’s, rather) will be a real gem!
Question: what machine are you using to sew the leather?
Wow! What a great find. Not my style, but my daughter would die for this! I am so proud of you for even attempting to reupholster it. I’m sure it will come out beautifully!
I probably would’ve driven right by that piece, never knowing what it was! You’re brave to tackle the reapholster, but I’m looking forward to seeing how it turns out!
