This little project was on my UFO list for the year. I finished the applique, but it has been sitting ever since. I’ve been asking myself why I don’t like it well enough to finish it. Aside from my shoddy applique skills, I think it is the vase I don’t like. 
The fabric was a poor choice. So I started digging through my stash and found this piece. I think I like this better.
As a reminder, this was Gwen Marston’s version.
I’m no Gwen, but I do think I can improve mine. By the end of the day, I hope to have a new vase for this.

I don’t think that first one is really that bad–
but I do see where the second one will make it more to the photo of the pattern and does maybe bring out the thistles better–happy stitching–
