UFO Parade 2016 ~ Results!

Last January, I posted the following UFO list. I wanted to finish every item on this list. Here is how I did:

  1. I cut these triangles ages ago when cleaning out a bin of bright fabrics. These 6 inch HSTs will be made into Quilts Beyond Borders. Done! I made three quilts from the remaining triangles and sent them off to QBB. img_3198IMG_3880IMG_3875
  2.  These  blocks were from a guild exchange last year. DONE!img_3164
    3. These 4 orphan Noteworthy blocks. Done! Sort of… I gave this UFO away so I am done with it!
    4. More guild exchange blocks. Done!img_4487
    5. Even more guild exchange blocks. These are destined to become a Quilt of Valor. But not by me! I handed these off to a member of the Stitching Sisters QOV group. I know she will make something beautiful out of them! I call that DONE!
    6. This isn’t quite a UFO. I bought this ruler and intended to try it out on the two layer cakes shown below. They are both Heather Baily lines and they look great together. I have been intending to do this for so long that it feels like a UFO! Not done! But on my list for this month.

    7. I cut these tumblers in November 2015. Done! Well, the top is anyway!

  3. 8. As if I don’t have enough UFOs of my own, I collect vintage UFOs! Done!img_1758

9. Now we are looking at carryover projects from the year before. But this time, Metropolitan Fair got finished!img_1089

10. I’m still working on this hexie top. I recently cut a few more pieces. I do know how I want to quilt this so that is motivating me to get this done. Still not done!IMG_1801

11. This is moving up to the top of the list. I need a full day to get a good start on it. It isn’t a project I want to do a little at a time. Done!IMG_1718IMG_9573

12. I  think I know where I want to go with these stars and have setting fabric set aside. Done!

13. I love these blocks! I have had a hard time figuring out how to deal with their vastly varying sizes. Instead of doing something I will regret, I have been letting this simmer. Not done!IMG_1722

14. Sigh….I have so fallen out of love with these blocks. My design wall is not near big enough for this project. But I don’t need the whole wall to start playing so I need to get to it.IMG_1711

15. Yeah, these are still here too. Done! Sort of! I used these in my Gwennie Inspired Medallion.IMG_1720

16. I nearly forgot my Brinton Hall quilt! Done!img_6503-1

So ten of 16 are completely done. Two more are finished tops. I’m calling that pretty darn good. I need to make a new list for this year, but that will be another post.

Happy New Year!

About katyquilts

I am a wife, mom of four amazing kids, and a librarian. I have been making traditional quilts for ages but have ventured into art qulting in the last several years. I also love to knit socks and mittens and dye my own fabric. I am thankful to God my Father and Creator for the gift of creativity!

You did really well with your UFOs, especially considering what you have accomplished in addition to those. You are such an inspiration to me. Hoping that this new year will be productive as well, with many new finishes for you and me both! Happy New Year Katy!
