New Pantographs!

I ordered some new pantographs during Digitech’s Black Friday sale.

Most of these would be great for beginners. If you are new to pantos, I’d stay away fromSound Wave and Radio Waves. I can’t wait to try these out!

But I’m not done shopping yet, I just received notice that it is time for the Semi Annual Sale At Urban Elementz ! And this time, instead of 25% off, everything is 30% off! You know I can’t pass up a deal like that! I do in fact purchase most of my pantos from Urban Elementz . They have great products and excellent customer service.

Finish It Up Friday ~ Stars QOV

Here is another QOV from a Stitching Sisters member, Annette.


I love the Baptist Fans.


But I’m not in love with the thread I used on the back.


Live and learn. The binding was sent along with this top, just to keep the two together. Since I wanted to play with my new Juki, I asked if anyone minded if I finished the binding and label. I got the go ahead! This quilt is now washed and ready to be presented to a veteran at the Stitching Sisters meeting next week.

November/December Goals

Warning: this is a very picture heavy post! It’s time to review my goals and plan for the very last month of 2017. It was quite a productive month for me. It’s amazing how much you can get done when you stay home.

1. Quilt, bind, and add a hanging sleeve to this quilt for a customer. Done!

2. Finish this baby quilt. Done!

3. Finish this little white on white quilt. Done!

4. Finish any QOVs that come in. Done!

I finished one more and will share that tomorrow.

5. Start work on a top secret customer quilt. Not done! Yikes!

What else did I finish? I finished hand quilting this and will share it soon.

I made two throw quilts for a couple of sweet kids.

I made and presented this QOV.

I finished this quilt for Daughter #1 and will share it soon.

And I made this Christmas pillow.

Wow! I got more done than I thought! I have to admit, my shopping is not done and my house is a mess. Also, hubby had two business trips this month and that always increases my productivity!

Time to set reasonable goals for December,

1. I must start and finish a top secret project. I’ll be working on that today.

2. Participate in the 52 Quilters project the week of December 11!

3. Finish my leader/ender blocks.

4. Make one more baby quilt.

Better not get crazy here!

In Praise of Vintage Stash….

Have you ever gone through your stash and ditched old fabrics you didn’t like anymore? I have. But thankfully, a few pieces missed the trash bag. And I’m so glad! I finished this quilt for a lady that bought the top at an Amish auction quite a few years ago.


She wanted me to not only quilt it, but also add the binding and a sleeve to the back, but she didn’t have any extra fabric.  Can you believe I found in my stash two of the exact fabrics used in the top and backing?

The colors are off here. It was way too bright out to take good photos. I found a piece identical to this backing to use for the sleeve.


The binding was a near perfect match as well. Close enough!

QOV

If this Quilt of Valor looks familiar, it’s because this top is the same pattern as the one I showed yesterday. Val made this top.

I think it’s fun to see how the same pattern can look quilted differently.

I loaded this one sideways and used this pantograph from Urban Elementz .

Yet Another QOV

Thank you to all for the kind comments regarding our next grandchild due in July. We could not be happier! Now onto quilty things. The lovely quilt top was pieced by Nadine.



I used a pantograph from Urban Elementz called Fern Gully to quilt it. I ordered some more pantos over the weekend and I can’t wait to try them out!

Slow Stitching Sunday ~ Vintage Broken Dishes

Well, even with the grand doggies here, I have managed a bit of progress hand quilting this vintage crib quilt.



I am now 2/3s of the way done.


I think I can finish before Christmas. While stitching, I’ll be dreaming of another one, because Daughter #1 and SIL #1 made this fun announcement!

“This Thanksgiving, the Q household was cooking more than just a turkey! Baby Q #3 coming July 2018!”

Merry Christmas to me!

I’ve wanted a Juki for a long time. I finally found a good deal and bought one!

This is the Juki TL2000Qi. There is a newer model out, but it was more than I was willing to pay. My first project was attaching the binding on this quilt.

What a breeze! I think I’m in love!

Finish It Up Friday ~ Christmas Pillow

We’ve so enjoyed an extended visit from Daughter #2. It will be hard to see her leave tomorrow . But I will hold onto the memories and be thankful for this time. Since she won’t be here at Christmas, she received her Christmas gift early.

Having it sent here meant that we could have a play date in the sewing room. She wanted to work on Christmas pillows so we did. She found a photo on Pinterest of one she liked. She used my leaf die and Accuquilt Studio Cutter to cut out the leaves. She used a glue stick to hold the leaves in place and just stitched down the middle of each to keep them dimensional. She used some of my hand dyed fabrics so there is no right or wrong side. She hand stitched the buttons in place. Isn’t it beautiful?

She will add a pillow form when she gets home. I took inspiration for my pillow from this gift bag she bought for me at Bath and Bodyworks.

I traced the pieces onto Heat N Bond Light and fused the design down. Then I straight stitched near the edge of all the pieces.

I love my pillow! Mostly, I love it for the memory of a rare day in the sewing room with my girl.

Thankful

This past year has been one of the most stressful of my life. And yet, I have so very much to be thankful for.

I got to spend several months with my precious grandsons in Arizona.

Beautiful Daughter #2 came home safely from Iraq.

I got Oscar!

Daughter #3 married the love of her life.

I have smiled until my face hurt at the antics of these two little boys.

My dad met Jesus face to face. He’s finally free from pain. I sat up with him all night before he left us. It was the sweetest time and I’m so thankful for being able to spend those hours alone with him.

Two days later, my sweet father in law joined him. I’m pretty sure they had a nice visit over pie.

I have traveled more miles this year than ever before, mostly to Wisconsin to help my parents, but also to Missouri and Arizona. I’ve enjoyed having my kids home for visits. I’ve had adventures with this guy.

There have been glorious moments and heartbreaking moments. Through it all, I can say with all certainty, that God is good.

I am thankful.
