I spent some time reading hubby’s grandma’s diary while visiting my Mother in Love. I’ve shared a bit of this before, but I enjoy these glimpses into her life so much! I hope you enjoy them as well.

Have a great day!

We stayed put for a few days, so I got out my sewing machine. I love my little set up.

And I had a very cute helper!

I’ve been itching to start these blocks. They will finish at six inches.

Have a great day!
Today, I have a selection of interesting finds from Facebook Marketplace. You just never know what you will find there. 😂

I actually would like this last one!

Have a great day!
Every time the mister gets out of the RV, Willy has to get in one of the front seats to see where he went! It looks like they are sharing a good joke here.

Gracie Bear is getting SO tall!

If you haven’t seen this, it was a great movie!

I thought this was interesting. We are definitely fans of In-N-Out.

Yep, this would be me. 😂 In case you were wondering, I do NOT drive Dora the Explorer, our RV.

Have a great day!
Well, that was easy!

Every fabric in this little baby quilt came from the thrift store. They all play well together!

Can’t go wrong with a striped binding.

And how about that backing fabric? I knew I’d eventually find the perfect use for it!

If you use your imagination, this quilting design looks like water.

Ta daaaa!

It finished at 41 inches square. Have a great day!
Today I’m looking back at this quilt that I finished almost five years ago. I think I’d like to do this again some time. Have a great day!

This UFO has been a long time in the finishing. I made these blocks as a block a day exercise back in May of 2010. I made up a few rules for myself. Each block would finish at 5 inches and I could only use solids. Each block should in some way represent that day. You can read more about this project here. Looking back now, I don’t even remember what some of these meant! Other memories are crystal clear. Like the day Daughter #1 returned from her study abroad trip to India, the day I received mail from Daughter #3 while serving in AmeriCorps, a camping trip, a day at the beach, an excursion to a favorite museum etc.

May 1st of that year fell on a Saturday. I placed my blocks in “weeks” that are vertical rather than horizontal. So the first block is the little blue ladder in the lower left hand corner.
I used a variegated green thread to quilt this in approximately parallel lines about 1/4 inch apart. I used two different colors of gray thread in the bobbin.

I quilted one of my favorite quotes from Ralph Waldo Emerson in the border: “The years teach much which the days never know.”

Here are a few detail shots.
The finished quilt measures 30″ x 40.” It is a very personal piece and will hang in my sewing room. It reminds me to count the days.
This is the layout I decided on. I’ll save the cut squares for something else.

It does need a border though.

Hmmmm…. Have a great day!
We spent some time with my dear Mother in Love last week. I got to visit with a few quilts I made for her many years ago.

This last one was inspired by a photo I took when we vacationed together in Hawaii.

Have a great day!
I picked up this scrap assortment at the local thrift for a song.

I had an idea immediately for a baby quilt to donate.

But apparently, I hadn’t had enough coffee and I made some cutting/sewing errors. So I decided to rethink my options.

I made a decision and will start sewing rows soon.

Have a great day!
I’ve been enjoying some slow stitching while we travel.

I’m glad I basted this top really well so I don’t need a hoop. Here’s a look at the back,

I missed some signs, but here are a few states we’ve passed through.

Have a great day!
