Continuing On

More HSTs!

And now I’m starting to turn them into blocks.

This was my inspiration. It was being sold on eBay as a vintage doll quilt. I suspect it was a fragment cut from a larger quilt and rebound, but that’s speculation on my part.

I took my Bernina 1030 into a local shop to have it looked at. I’m hoping I get it back soon. I’d like to quilt this on it.

Have a great day!

Something New

This is something new, inspired by something old, a small quilt I saw on eBay.

I’m making a lot of HSTs here. So I layered the Kona Snow and the butterscotch solid. I have no idea what that is.

Then I cranked them through my Accuquilt GO!

Now my pieces are all lined up and ready to feed through my machine.

I have nearly 150 pair here and this is how little waste I ended up with.

Sewing has started!

Looking forward to some more mindless meditative stitching today. Before I head up to the sewing room, here are a couple Accuquilt deals to share with you.

And for Studio cutters:

Have a great day!

Hiking at Lake Pleasant

We went hiking with Daughter #2 yesterday. Lake Pleasant is a lake, north of Phoenix, that was created by dams built in the 1920s. It is a beautiful park! Here are some f my photos. I’m still working at learning my DSLR.

I’m just enthralled with the saguaros here. The one just above was well over 25 feet tall. They are huge and old. Oh, the stories they could tell!

Have a good one!

Another Shirting Project

I cut these pieces out back in Michigan.

The plan was to make a smallish baby quilt. I started piecing.

But as is often the case, I wanted to go bigger.

I thought I could have a column of these blocks flanked by uneven borders of plaids or stripes. Maybe even add another column….

I think I have the perfect fabrics in Michigan to finish this into a nap quilt. I think I’m going to pack up these bits and take it with when we head back north. It just wants to be more. I think.

Have a great day!

Slow Stitching Sunday

I bet you thought I’d never get back to this! I was starting to think that.

I haven’t picked it up since December.

But it is time to get going here, so today is the day!

Happy stitching!

Random Silliness

Last week was my birthday and I was royally spoiled!

Mr. Wonderful lived up to his name and gifted me with a new iPad and an Apple Pencil! I’m still learning how to use it, but it is really fun!

I downloaded an app that allows me to take photos like this:

And turn them into this:

And this:

How fun is that? I decided Big L needed to visit me in Michigan, so….

The app is a background eraser that allows you to change the background to that of another photo. If you need me, I’ll be over here playing with my new toy.

Have a great day!

Finish It Up Friday ~ Snowballs in Arizona

A quilt top goes together very quickly when you have everything cut out ahead of time! This one finished at about 60 by 66 inches, a good size for a nap quilt.

This was so simple! It’s just squares alternating with plain (print) blocks and half blocks on the edges.

I should know better than to take photos this early. The truest color is in the first one.

Have a great day!

More Snowballs

I put all my snowball and alternate blocks on the design wall.

Then I realized the problem.

Leftovers. Clearly I cannot count. I hate leftover bits. I don’t have any more of these prints here, so I tried adding more white at the ends.

This isn’t working, but it led me to my solution.

Stay tuned.
