When I was working through my scraps last summer, I cut this entire bin of 2 1/2 inch squares. Each pile is about 2-3 inches deep.

I’ve seen a lot of postage stamp quilts with various colors of background solids and decided to try that idea out. I think these squares are technically too big to be called postage stamps, but it’s what I have. I cut nine sets of background squares to start.

I decided if I liked it, I could cut more and go bigger. The blocks finish at 12 inches.

So far, so good!

That’s the name of this pattern. I loved it when I saw it and eventually, I bought a kit to make it. Then it sat and sat and sat in my sewing room. I finally put it on my UFO list for this year.

I pulled it out this week and had a hard time figuring out which fabric was which. I’m still not sure I have it correct.

I asked on Instagram if anyone could tell me how long it took them to piece this. One lady said about 40 hours. Gulp. I sure don’t want to start this and then not be able to finish it before we go. I guess it will sit in this sewing room for a while. Sigh….

I finally got my Bernina 1030 back from its tune up and it is sewing better than it ever has!

So I’m hoping to get quilting on my HST quilt today. I’m using my Hera marker to mark my lines for quilting.

With a little luck, I’ll be sewing the binding yet tonight.

Those of you that follow me on Instagram have already seen this, but I wanted to make sure the rest of you also saw this amazing quilt.

I went to a quilters’ sale yesterday. People rented spaces and the money went to a local guild. I admired this quilt and the lady that owned it gave it to me! She said I looked like I would give it a good home. I feel so lucky! I did give a donation to the guild. I found some other fun stuff that I will share soon, but I’m smitten with this lovely piece!

The quilting in this is incredible, very original. It is very worn, but it screams Arizona Territory to me! I love the colors and the innovation border.

I would like to recreate this some day.

I wonder about the maker. She put so much of herself into this.

I went to my favorite fabric store out here this week. Sadly, flat folds have gone up to $4.99/yard. They had a great selection of solids though for only $3.99/yard.

I spent a day sewing with my sweet daughter in law and we finished piecing this top. It will be her first quilt and it is a gift for a friend. She did such a great job!

I listened to this book this week. I miss Alex.

I’m trying to decide what to do with these leftover triangles.

I have added all the white squares to the rectangles for this project. I think i will wait on further designing until I get back to Michigan.

I love these blocks! They are so simple, but put them on point and they become very interesting.

I had enough HSTs to make a fifth block, so I did.

From there, it was a simple matter to fill in the large triangles. I still don’t have my machine back, so this will go on the pile to long arm.

This ended up about 30 inches square. After its quilted, I’ll use the same orangey solid for the binding.
