I’ve had these blocks for some time. I take them out every now and again, trying to figure out what to do with them. You can see how much they vary in size.
I finally have a plan. But it requires lots of unsewing.
As each block gets unstitched, de-threaded, and pressed, the pieces get clipped together. I want to keep the pieces from each original block together.
I have everything I need in this vintage enamel pan, so I can visit with family or watch TV while I work on this.

It seems to have been a month for minis! First, I finished this Temecula Quilt Company QAL.
I also finished this red, white, and blue Bow Tie.
Six little doll quilts.
And this wasn’t really finished in September, but that is when I got to share this secret sewing project for Fat Quarter Shop .

I knew the next few weeks would be busy, so I did a bit of prep work for the quilt along. I decided to make a bunch of four patches, since there are quite a few of those in the quilt.
I also made a bunch of HSTs that will be needed.
I put all these in a little bin so they don’t get lost.

I know I just finished a bow tie quilt, but I love this simple pattern!
I picked up some Kona White and got the background bits cut.
Then I had to sew just a few. These will finish at 6 inches.
I used my AccuQuilt 12” Qube and this Companion Corners set to cut pieces.
I probably won’t get any farther on this for a while.

These are all 3 1/2” squares that I cut using my AccuQuilt Studio Cutter.
This is the idea I’m going for, but I’m not sure if I want to do individual blocks with sashing, or have the blocks all run together. That would require pre-planning the whole thing and very long diagonal rows. I won’t be working on this until I get back to Michigan, so I have time to think about it.

I loved making this quilt for Fat Quarter Shop !
It was very quick and easy, but still makes for an interesting quilt.
The gradation I was able to achieve with the layer cake really makes the design pop.
