It just wasn’t working. But I came across an idea that I traced to Viridian’s Blog. It required cutting a bunch of white squares, but I was still able to use the aqua ones that I cut.
I used this die.
Here is a single block.
With four, you can begin to see that pattern emerge. Such a clever block!
I’ve been sewing! And I love these blocks. I thought today I would show how I approach sewing these blocks. Of course, designing is the first part!
I use a wool mat to transfer pieces to and from the machine and design wall. My squares were cut 3 1/2”. The side triangles are 5 inch QSTs. The corner triangles will be 3 inch finished HSTs.
First I sew diagonal rows. You can see that my side triangles are oversized.
I’ve been riding Daughter #2’s bike and she wanted it back. I can’t say that I blame her! I knew it would happen, so I’ve been scouring the local ads for a bike to keep here in AZ. Last Thursday, I brought her home!
A sweet friend sent me some fabric and included some block parts. This is just the kind of challenge I love! I have no idea what the block was supposed to be, but I could use these pieces for a sweet little doll quilt.
Or two…
Or three…
Our local park recently installed this artwork. It’s so much prettier in person. The overcast day didn’t help show it off.
Last week, my dear neighbor texted me to let me know that a garage sale on our street had a doll bed for sale. So I trotted down to check it out. I was NOT expecting this Victorian beauty!
I removed the foam and replaced it with a thinner scrap I had here. Then I made a cover for that. Of course, it needed a small pillow.
After I added a pillowcase, it was complete!
I’m positively smitten with this! It’s living in one of the guest rooms for now. I like peeking in there and seeing it.
