I haven’t picked this up much, but finally made some progress last week.

So far, I’m liking the red thread.

The center blocks are all quilted. Now I have to figure out the rest. That usually takes longer than the actual quilting.

I found this at a sale recently for $20. So it had to come live with me!

I love the design and it is well done.

Except for those ties. clearly this quilt hasn’t been used much, so it hasn’t resulted in too much damage.

Even the back is that lovely 30s green!

The blocks are all reverse appliquéd.

You know I had to open it up! Yep, poly batting. Someone finished this in the recent past.

Eventually, this will be taken apart and quilted. For now, I’m enjoying it here.

So I have all my blocks finished…

…. I think. The hourglass blocks make a secondary Ohio Star design.

But the design is interrupted in the top right and bottom left corners.

This could be fixed if I make 12 more sampler blocks and 11 more hourglass blocks.

I wanted this top done before I leave for Michigan. I was hoping to quilt it there and use it in my family room. But, it’s already 60 by 72. I don’t know what to do. I think I’ll go take a hike and think about it some more.

I finished the last of the blocks for the Farmer’s Wife quilt.

The top left corner block is my own variation of one of the blocks in the book. My friend kindly gave me fabric in addition to the blocks and I used a bit of my own scraps here and there.

The layout needs tweaking and I need more hourglass blocks. But I love this so far!

I decided to make a few more blocks from the book before I set these together.

I’ve shared this quilt before, but I always think of it as my Easter quilt so I am sharing it again. It is an expression of Ephesians 2:8-9 that says it is by grace that I am saved through faith, not by my good works or good intentions. Though at times, I have tried to reach a place of communion with my God by means of good deeds, truly I can only reach this place by means of His grace. This quilt is a reminder to me that I don’t have to be good enough because His grace is sufficient. When I couldn’t reach Him, He came down to reach me.
