So I have all my blocks finished…

…. I think. The hourglass blocks make a secondary Ohio Star design.

But the design is interrupted in the top right and bottom left corners.

This could be fixed if I make 12 more sampler blocks and 11 more hourglass blocks.
I wanted this top done before I leave for Michigan. I was hoping to quilt it there and use it in my family room. But, it’s already 60 by 72. I don’t know what to do. I think I’ll go take a hike and think about it some more.
Have a great day!
I love your choice of brown/taupe and blue for the hourglass blocks. I see the stars but they are not dominant. For me, the on-point squares surrounding the pieced blocks stand out much more strongly. My opinion is, if you’re happy with the size and the two corners don’t bother you too much, call it finished. Unless you’re going to add a border?
Wonderful quilt! Your color and design choices are inspired.

What about extending just the hourglass blocks into the border some how.
Funny but I didn’t notice the secondary star design…even when looking for it. Finally got it. LOL!
It’s really lovely but I totally get completing the Ohio Stars. Can you make the navy triangles as Flying Geese and alternate them with a solid background strip? No matter what you do It’s a wonderful quilt!
I think it looks great as is. The Farmer’s Wife blocks are the focal point. If you make more of both blocks then your off corners will change to the opposite of what is it now. Would it not? I think it would be never ending to make more blocks.
I see squares on point also but you could make 2 more hour glass blocks and set them into a “solid” border to complete the upper right and bottom left Ohio Stars. That may bring out the stars vs the squares on point.
When I look at it onscreen, the secondary pattern that jumps out is squares on point. It might look different in person, but I would be happy with this quilt.
You are the only one that sees that! It looks great as it is!
