9 Patches

I decided to make some little 9 patches for another doll quilt. I thought I’d share my method with you. It works for any size strips, but I used strips cut 2” wide. And yes, I used my AccuQuilt die cutter.

I cut three light and three dark strips and stitched them together into sets as shown.

Press seams toward the dark.

Layer one of each strip set, right sides together. The seams nest nicely!

Then lay them back on the strip die used to cut the strips to begin with. I used a silver sharpie to add lines that are 90 degrees to the blades. This ensures square cuts. The GO! Dies already have these markings. This is a die for my Studio Cutter.

Ta daaa! All cut and ready to sew!

I didn’t care that I had a mixture of light/dark patches, but you could do all of one or all of the other, keeping in mind that you will need twice as many of one of the strip sets.

Easy peasy! BTW, these will finish at 4.5 inches. It’s a perfect size to alternate with charm squares.

Have a great day!
