My little map quilt is done and I’ve decided to call it Road Trip.

See that little Jeep all loaded up and driving from Michigan to Arizona? I probably should have pointed it the other way, since we will head back before long.

I originally planned to quilt this with straight lines, but grabbed this pantograph instead. Since everything I do is hand guided, this is far from perfect.

It gives great texture, but it isn’t easy to get it right and every wobble shows.

I was glad I tried it out on a very small quilt! This is 22 by 28 inches.
And what does this have to do with anything? I like to take photos in the corner of my backyard. Our neighbor has a lemon tree and she said we can have all the lemons we can reach. I just noticed they are almost ready!

You can see a wee bit of our lime tree below. It’s pretty small yet, but it has a bit of fruit starting.

Have a great day!
Recently saw your map quilt on Pinterest and would love to make one for my daughter who loves to travel. could you please tell me where the pattern is available? Yours is a real inspiration!
Looks like you cut off parts of the west coast.
Hi Katy! I think road trip turned out just fab. That panto give the piece great movement. It won’t be long and your lime tree will be full grown. Just think – you can bring some fresh lemons to Michigan! YUM! Safe travels. Good thing you’re not there now – lots of snow and cold. But it IS February. {{Hugs}} ~smile~ Roseanne
love your road trip quilt! It is perfect for my “grands” who are travel nurses and have an rv they live in. love the quilting too! You always do a great job on that! Am just starting to do smaller pieces so may have to copy this one!
Katy, your Road Trip is so amazingly creative. I LOVE IT! I would also love to have fresh lemons & limes. Lemons to cook with, limes to drink! Ha! Have a great weekend.
This is absolutely fabulous! I think the quilting is perfect for it. It looks like the jet stream running through the country. Would you mind if I used this for an upcoming charity quilt? I would like to make it larger for one of the children’s shelters we donate to from our group. It is so cheerful!
