This was a very satisfying finish. I pieced the top last winter in AZ. It took me forever to decide how to quilt it.

I think this is the first time that I’ve combined had and machine quilting like this. It won’t be the last!

I love the effect, but I enjoyed the process even more. Because it was all machine quilted first, I didn’t need to baste or even use a hoop.


I used a facing rather than a binding on this and just used unbleached muslin for the backing.

My quilt inspector gave it her seal of approval.


I think I’ll take this one back to AZ.
