The Fat Quarter Shop is having a Remix blog hop today. A Remix is where they take one of their tutorials and mix it up with new fabrics. This kitchen hand towel is the project for today.
I’ve wanted/needed a couple of these for a while now so I jumped at the chance to try out their pattern. You can find the video tutorial here and the downloadable template here. I decided to go with a patriotic theme.
Here is the template.
I traced mine onto freezer paper using the sewing lines instead of the cutting lines. Then I ironed it to the back side of the top fabric.
I sewed next to the freezer paper.
After stitching, I cut mine out.
You’ll want to watch the quick video for all the details.
I learned a lesson about directional fabrics here. Oops!
One towel will make two of these so I went ahead and doubled up.
I didn’t add as many pleats to the towel as suggested in the tutorial and I probably would next time. I would also top stitch closer to the edge. I think it would be fun to make holiday versions of these.
A big thanks to Fat Quarter Shop for the free pattern!
Have a great day!

Those are so cute! Thanks for sharing the info. Hugs,
You sped right through making your kitchen towel. I just saw their blog post.
Looks like a quick and easy pattern. Clever way to stitch around the freezer paper, which helps that quick finish!
Hi Katy! Thanks for the sharing the link. Your towels turned out cute. I need to make a few of these myself. ~smile~ Roseanne
