And so it begins! This is a good size quilt, over 82 inches square. My plan is to quilt one fan per day.

Yes, big Baptist Fans again. I am using my stencil from Fun with Barb.

The big difference this time is the batting. I ordered some Quilter’s Dream 100% Cotton batting in the lowest loft. I put unbleached muslin on the back.

It really is a dream! I don’t think I’ll use anything else for hand quilting. It is so much easier to needle. My hands appreciate it!

Have a great day!

I love it!
Hi Katy,
I love the Baptist fans pattern for this quilt. It looks just beautiful on the front and back. What do you use for marking? Just curious – I need to get something for the occasional marking I do. ~smile~ Roseanne
My favorite quilting pattern is Baptist Fan. I have an old top my mother found at an antique sale many years ago. Looks to be feed sacks and muslin. Would love to quilt it with the fan stitch. Looking forward to watching your progress on this lovely old quilt.
It’s good to know that about Quilter’s 100% cotton. My hands get crankier when I hand stitch now that I’m older (sigh). I love the quilt, Katy. Such a pretty pink!
An extra-thin batting and limiting your quilting time. Your hands will love that combo.
