Hands2Help 2016!

Confessions Of A Fabric Addict

Have you heard of Hands2Help? It is an initiative hosted by Sarah over at Confessions of a Fabric Addict to make quilts for several good causes. You can read all about it (and sign up!) here.

I am taking part this year and wanted to give you all a heads up in case you are interested too! There will be lots of fun link ups with tutorials and prizes, but the greatest part will be the opportunity to use the gifts of our hands  to bring a smile to the face of someone going through a hard time.

I am opting to make and send a quilt or two to Quilty Hugs for Happy Chemo, which is an ongoing project of Emily from Em’s Scrap Bag. Some of you know that my dad has been through chemo a number of times and is going through yet another round right now so this is a cause near and dear to my heart.

Yesterday, I cut up a FQ bundle of neutrals that I purchased a few years back from Connecting Threads.

I wanted to make a masculine quilt and these seemed just right. I am making Puss in the Corner blocks, alternating the placement of lights and darks. My blocks will finish at 8 inches.

I invite you all to join the fun! Head over to Confessions of a Fabric Addict for all the details.

About katyquilts

I am a wife, mom of four amazing kids, and a librarian. I have been making traditional quilts for ages but have ventured into art qulting in the last several years. I also love to knit socks and mittens and dye my own fabric. I am thankful to God my Father and Creator for the gift of creativity!

I’m so glad quilters are such a kind and generous lot. There’s lots of quilts being made and given to local, national and international charities here in the UK too. International Quilters Day on Saturday is a great opportunity for quilters to get together and make for good causes.☺

  6. What a fabulous quilt that will be. I love that block, and the fabric choices are wonderful. And what can I say about the cause … the icing on the cake. I can’t wait to see it finished, quilted and ready to gift.

Wow, I just spent a little time getting caught up on your posts and you’ve been busy! I really like these neutrals with the simple block, it’s going to be wonderful. Love the quilting you did with the baptist fan and the new rulers as well as the blocks for your daughter. Fun stuff happening at your house!
