Friday…..

Aaaahhhh…. My beloved long arm, Friday.

Friday is a HandiQuilter Forte with a 24” throat. I love this machine. We have spent a lot of time together and quilted many quilts.

But the mister and I are working toward downsizing our Michigan home. So what to do? You see, I’m not sure I want to haul him all the way to Arizona. I have a HandiQuilter Avante, Harry, out there already.

So, if any of you are in the vicinity of Mid-Michigan and you think you might be interested in adopting Friday, let me know. He may be available as early as January.

He comes with a 12 foot gallery frame, ruler base, and the quilt from the back kit. HQ now calls this model the Amara 24. Purchased new with these options, the Amara would run you about $17,200. I’ve had Friday for 5 years. Honestly, I haven’t figured out a price yet.

Again, I’m just trying to gauge interest right now. So email me if you have questions or think you may be interested.

Thanks!

Art Quilts in Situ

I’ve been trying to downsize my quilt collection, along with everything else. Daughter #3 chose these two and shared these photos of them in place.

I think they look great in her mid century modern home. Have a great day!

Trip Around the World Update

Life has been so crazy that I’ve had very little time to sew. I don’t yet know if I want to make big blocks with triangles at the edges to finish, or if I want to sew it all in diagonal rows.

I put off that decision by just sewing the diagonal rows of this block and clipping them together.

Then I started designing the second block. It took several tries and I’m still uncertain.

Might need more tweaking. Have a great day!

Slow Stitching Sunday

I started quilt with the large hoop and then moved to the smaller one.

I declare to quilt hanging diamonds and the hoop just doesn’t work well for that. It is well basted, so I decided to quilt without a hoop. You can hardly see it.

It shows better on the back.

This is the thread I’m using.

Have a great day!

This and That

Sewing has been slow lately. I did make rice bags for the 3 Es.

I recently read this book. It was really good.

We want to downsize. I told Mr. Wonderful that I could live in an RV equipped with a long arm like this!

My backyard. Brrrrr!

Have a great day!

Finish It Up Friday ~ 4 Patch

My leader/ender 4 patch is done and I love it!

I’m not really a pink girl, but this works for me.

I kept the back plain.

The pantograph gave just enough texture. it finished at 77” square.

I have a recipient in mind for this!

Have a great day!

Throwback Thursday

It’s hard to believe it’s been over 15 years since I’ve written my first blog post! Here is a look back at a post from five years ago. This little bit has been pinned countless times on Pinterest, so people must like it. Enjoy!

It’s been a busy week and I’ve had little time to sew. While casting about the sewing room yesterday, I spied these little vintage 9 patches on my design wall. I needed a quick finish, no matter how small, so I decided to do something with these.

I only had five so I decided to piece another from my stash of vintage scraps.

The piecing isn’t perfect, but vintage blocks are rarely a consistent size.

I used a bit of feed sack on the back and resisted the urge to overquilt this little doll quilt.

I love displaying little quilts with my vintage sewing machines. This little sewing machine dates to 1910. I purchased it from the brother of a friend.

This book is a great resource for those of you interested in vintage toy sewing machines. There is a second volume now also.

My little machine has the four spoked wheel as shown in the photo below.

Here’s a little more info on this model from the book.

I did wash my little quilt when I finished. Here’s how it looked after.

Now it has the antique look and feel that I love.

Have a great day!

Not a bad month in the sewing room, even with all the craziness.

A Fun Little Project!

This little man spent the night last weekend. He loves to do projects when he comes over.

So we got out the fun foam.

A fun AccuQuilt die.

And we got t9 work!

He wanted me to see it’s so easy, he can do it standing on one foot. 😂

Then we got to work mixing and matching and glueing.

We cut up fridge magnets and glued them on the back.

E3 was very productive!

And very proud of his magnets!

I love my AccuQuilt GO! for making stuff with the grands!

Have a great day!

Stalled Out

All the blocks are made. My original plan was to set these with sashing and corner stones.

I made these 8 inch blocks from this layer cake.

But for reasons I cannot explain, I find myself bored with this. I do not know why.

Before I go, here is the big Cyber Monday deal at AccuQuilt ! 30% off e everything! Just use the code CYBERDEAL when you check out. This deal ends tonight.

If you need me, I’ll be looking for my sew-jo….

Have a great day!
