This and That

Notice a Thanksgiving theme here? I guess I never posted this!! Here goes, albeit a bit late.

These two crack me up! E3 is definitely the mister’s mini me.

Winslow and her sister/littermate, Lola.

Daughter #3 and SIL sent me these lovely flowers.

Willy decided Winslow was a great seat. She didn’t seem to mind.

Before I go, check out this post on the AccuQuilt blog to see how I made a hostess set for gift giving this season.

Have a great day!

Finish It Up Friday ~ Hourglass

And it’s done!

I decided I’m happy with this after all. It is quite cozy with the cotton batting and flannel backing.

I’m particularly pleased with my machine binding efforts on this one.

I didn’t put a ton of time into arranging my blocks. You can probably tell.

But it’s a sweet little finish that I hope will make a child smile.

Have a great day!

New Leader/Ender Project

I’ve started a new leader/ender project. I cut these squares from feedsacks a while back and I just cut the yellow solid squares to go with.

This is the AccuQuilt die I used. It is Shape 2 from the 6” Qube.

The plan is to see how many of these blocks I can make.

Have a great day!

Progress!

Finally! The top is pieced and quilting started.

This is the pantograph I am using.

I even have the binding ready to go.

Looks like I’ll have a real finish this Friday.

Have a great day!

2023 Art Quilts

It’s that time of year, when I take stock of my finishes. Since. Don’t see myself making any more art quilts before the end of the year, it seemed a good place to start. These are the art quilts I finished this year.

Have a great day!

Hourglasses…..again!

I brought these to AZ with me.

And I found a perfect flannel for the back in my stash here.

I have just barely enough, so this has cemented my decision to leave out the dashing and cornerstones. It will finish at 48 by 56 inches, a good size for a Project Linus quilt.

I have all my pieces in order.

Time to get sewing.

But first, I have to share this great deal from AccuQuilt that ends tonight.

That deal ends tonight.

Don’t have an AccuQuilt cutter? For a limited time, you can get the GO! Me for only $89.99!

I love my little AccuQuilt GO! Me! It’s perfect for the grandkids to use. Also 70% of GO! Dies work in the GO! Me! It even comes with a couple dies and a mat so you can get cutting right away. It’s an affordable way to try out die cutting.

Have a great day!

Slow Stitching Sunday

This is moving along, albeit, slowly.

And the hand quilting hardly shows at this point.

You can see a bit more here on the back.

It will be on hold for a bit now. I left it in Michigan. It did feel good to get some hand quilting in again.

Have a great day!

This and That

It’s hard to believe how quickly you can go from this:

To this:

The top photo was taken in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan while traveling home from visiting my mom last week.

Below is our view flying into Phoenix.

I got one small puzzle done.

Winslow is in her happy place!

I have two of these doorbells!

Have a great day!

Finish It Up Friday

My finish for this week is my minimal Christmas decorating! And yes, we are finally back in sunny Arizona!

The stockings were hung by the electric fireplace with care.

Instead of my big tree, I put up this Christmas cactus I found at an estate sale last summer. I took it all apart and put it back together, adding extra green.

Check out these lights we found!

And here is the family room. The cactus, a quilt, and some Christmas pillows.

Simple, but it works for me.

Have a great day!

Throwback Thursday

Busy week, so here is a post from five years ago. Enjoy!

Half Hexie Finish

I had several rows of this quilt put together before I left for AZ. Mr. Wonderful did all of the Christmas cooking so I was able to sneak down to the sewing room to do another row or two here and there.

After Christmas, I got the top quilted and bound.

I just love the texture this panto gives!

I used a layer cake of Nest by Moda and added a few bits from my stash.

The backing is a light gray.

This is the panto I used. I’ve used a version of this before. During the recent sale at Urban Elementz , I ordered this in a larger size. Apparently, I really love it. As I ended up accidentally ordering two.

I’ve decide that from now on when I gift a quilt, I’m just going to roll it up and tie it rather than wrap it. So much easier.

And finally, here is a shot of the whole thing.

I love how it turned out, even though these really aren’t my colors. No worries, I have a friend who has persevered through many challenges that I will gift it too. She is an inspiration to me. I’m hoping this will help her to feel loved as she recovers from a serious health challenge.

Have a great day!
