I was asked by AccuQuilt to make up a new sample of this June Tailor bag for them.
These are the fabrics I chose.
I didn’t need this many different prints, but they were so cute! The line is called Wanderlust by Free Spirit Fabrics, available from Fat Quarter Shop .
The kit includes this printed interfacing.
It took me a bit to figure out how I wanted to fussy cut fabric for the front zipper pocket.
Here are my cut pieces and the hardware, also available from AccuQuilt .
I’m not really a bag maker, so I figured this would be a challenging project for me. The instructions are well done and there is also a video tutorial that was very helpful.
This shows the inside pocket and the lining fabric.
And here is the finished tote! The zippers are included in the kit. They are actually gray.
Here is the back.
How fun is that? I almost hated to send it back to AccuQuilt ! Maybe one day, I’ll make another for myself.
I’m having trouble responding to comments lately, so I thought I’d write an extra post to catch up a bit.
I was asked the size of my sewing room. This room is approximately 15 by 23 feet. Answering that question brought a bit of a revelation to me. My sewing room in Michigan was 24 by 25 feet. No wonder this is so crowded now!
Thank you to whoever asked, I feel better about this mess now!
Quite a number of you suggested blue for sashing of my latest little quilt.
I love the idea! But I’ll hold that thought for a future quilt. I’m definitely not done with this pattern idea.
You also had great ideas concerning my failed tumbler quilt.
I agree with you all that the gray is NOT right. I also got ideas for different arrangements, dresdens, putting tumblers together to create long hexies etc. I will play with these some more.
I’m frequently asked for Quilt of Valor patterns for quilts shown on my blog. If I have pattern info for those, it will be in the post. However, most were only quilted by me so I do t know pattern info.
Before I go, I wanted to share a couple Leap Day deals! First, free shipping from Connecting Threads.
Once again, not much got done sewing wise this month. I did finish this throw quilt.
And these pillows.
I have one more small finish that I’ll share Friday.
There was also quite a lot of unpacking and rearranging, and a most wonderful visit from my sister and BIL! We enjoyed time hiking and playing tourist with them and Daughter #2 and SIL.
I’m trying to decide on a pink for the strips in between.
The one on the right side below has been in my stash for well over 30 years! I bought it when I was pregnant with Daughter #1. I was a very new quilter and found this at Sew-Fro Fabrics. I remember falling in love with it and buying one yard. It was $5/yard and that was a huge splurge for me at the time! I’ve never been able to cut into it.
I finished the “must do” projects and was casting about for something fun. I turned to my saved ideas on Pinterest and decided it was time to create my own version of this.
I could find no attribution, but it appears to be quite old. I grabbed these AccuQuilt dies and went to work.
