Slow Stitching Sunday ~ Boho Log Cabin

This top sure didn’t take long. I confess, it isn’t my best work. I quickly moved on to basting so I could do some quilting at the campground.

Gotta love stitching outside!

I don’t have a hoop here and I didn’t have enough pins to baste well, but I’m forging ahead and calling those wrinkles character.

I’m making the stitches on the back longer than I have in the past while quilting this way. I think it looks much better. Live and learn.

Have a great day!

This and That

I’m nearing the end of this little bit!

This was a very thought provoking book about nurses working in Vietnam.

An AZ neighbor sent this photo of a cactus in our front yard out there! We have such good neighbors!

Another room done.

The little boy hamming it up in the middle of this photo is E3. He just finished kindergarten.

I’m looking for recommendations for a good travel iron for the RV. Any ideas?

And lastly, I received a comment recently saying that the reader would be interested in hearing more about life outside of quilting. I’ve been mulling this over. Lately, my life has been mostly cleaning, fixing, decluttering our home to sell, so that isn’t all that interesting. Once it is ready to show, I’ll share a few more photos of that. What do you all think? Only quilting? Or more life stuff? Definitely interested in hearing your thoughts.

Have a great day!

Finish It Up Friday ~ Sourdough

Another finish!

I had fun playing with the quilting on this one. It was a great distraction one night when the mister was in ER for a stomach issue. He’s better now.

I actually used crochet cotton rather than perle cotton for most of the quilting here. It is much cheaper.

I so love this vintage fabric on the back! It was the perfect place to use it.

I’m not 100% happy with the size and placement of the circles. I traced around plates pulled from the cupboard. I love the idea of this and may revisit it in the future.

Have a great day!

Throwback Thursday ~ Labyrinth

I’ve been thinking about my labyrinth quilts lately. I thought I’d share them once again. Enjoy!

Solid Strippie Log Cabin

After a few fits and starts, I think I’ve finally figured out a beginning.

I’ll probably need to cut more black strips soon.

Last weekend, this handsome boy turned ten! I can hardly believe it!

We gave him a gift, but all he really wanted from us, was to spend the night at Dora the RV and go to his favorite restaurant. We made that happen!

We are so blessed to have this incredible young man in our lives!

Have a great day!

Something New

Daughter #1 asked if I had a quilt for a friend that just got married. I probably do, but nearly all my quilts are in AZ. She said their home was all neutrals. I had an idea I wanted to try for a quilt with a boho vibe so I went hunting for fabric in my stash. This is what I came up with.

Then I played around a bit on EQ8.

I have log cabins on the brain lately.

Here is my top. You can see I’ve used big pieces! The strips are six inches wide. I ran out of the brown so I need to come up with something for the last top piece.

The orange above is actually more of a coral color. I plan to hand quilt this. It seems I’m also very stuck on solids right now!

Before I go, I wanted you to pass along this sale from Connecting Threads .

And this one from AccuQuilt .

Have a great day!

Solid Strippie Bits

These have been hanging around quite a while. I decided to forge ahead without much of a plan.

My first step was slicing them into 2 inch wide pieces.

I also cut two inch strips of a black solid.

I want to do a kind of log cabin, but the beginning has me a bit stumped.

I need to have a think. Have a great day!

Slow Stitching Sunday

I basted my little Sourdough quilt.

I don’t have much for backings, but I think this is fun. It is heavier than quilting cotton. It’s from the stash of my great aunt who passed away at 99.

And the stitching has begun! I’ll need to pick up more perle cotton before I get very far though. I have tons of it in Arizona. Ugh.

Have a great day!

This and That

I wish I had taken a before photo. This is just a glimpse of what we’ve been doing. Painting ceilings, trim, walls, new carpet, new blinds.

Willy had to try out the sleeping bags I pulled out to sell. He has deemed them nap-worthy.

It’s been a few weeks, but our peonies were stunning this year!

I recently made this fun curtain for an AQ project.

I’d definitely stop here for coffee. I love a good pun!

Good advice.

Have a great day!

Finish It Up Friday ~ Two by Four

Maybe I should say this is almost finished? Half finished? At any rate, it’s a finished top. And I quite love it!

I really miss my long arm! I will wait to quilt this until I get back to Arizona. It will probably be donated to Project Linus.

Have a great day!
