June Wrap-Up

What a month it has been! I can’t say I’m sorry it’s over. I did finish some sewing projects, mostly for my mental health.

The next is just a top, but I’m counting it as a finish!

It certainly helps the productivity to use leftovers as starters for new projects. Have a great day!

This and That

Our hometown just added the second largest mural in the US! We had to drive by. I only got this one photo and it certainly doesn’t show the whole thing, but I love it!

Daughter #1’s family recently got a fish tank. Winslow was fascinated.

After reading The Women by Kristen Hannah, I wanted to watch this series. Hubby got me the DVDs so we can watch it at the campground. We are watching the Ken Burns series on Vietnam first.

I need to get up early so I can have my coffee in silence before anyone talks to me. 😂

Work on the house continues. Here is a before (actually midway) of our front door.

And here is the after. Much better.

Have a great day!

Finish It Up Friday ~ Little Orphan Anni

This is my second quilt made as an homage to the work of Anni Albers. You can find the first one here.

Isn’t this backing fun? It was from an old IKEA duvet cover that Daughter #1 used for curtains.

This little finish ended up at 16 by 20 inches.

I didn’t think ahead when I cut my HSTs out. I cut the squares later and it wasn’t until I took this little bit outside for photos that I noticed the whites didn’t match.

This last photo was taken inside and you can hardly tell they are different.

I’m okay with it. It isn’t a museum piece, and I’ve had this happen before. I’d be more careful if it was a more important project.

Have a great day!

Throwback Thursday

Here is a post from five years ago. I still adore this little finish. I often think of dear Diane at O’Quilts who sent the little top to me. Enjoy!

I’m not sure why vintage UFOs are so appealing to me, but they sure are.

You may recall that this little patchwork piece was sent to me by Diane from O’Quilts .

These first photos were taken before washing.

The rest are after washing.

Oh, that glorious texture!

As soon as I saw this piece, I knew it would make a perfect doll quilt for my little doll bed. And I was right!

Thanks again, Diane! Have a wonderful day, everyone!

Boho Progress

I got some work done on this while the carpet guy was here.

The minimal quilting and large stitches means it’s going quickly! I just have to resist the urge to double the amount of quilting. 😬

Have a great day!

Leader/Enders

I decided to use that bin of two inch squares as my next leader/ender project.

I’m making nine patches. I’m sure I can figure out a way to use these some day. They will finish at four and a half inches.

I spent about twenty minutes matching up lights and darks so the next batch is ready to sew.

I haven’t forgotten my tiny nine patches, but I left those at the RV so they will have to wait.

Have a great day!

Strippie

This is coming along slowly. But progress is progress.

The number of bits on the wall is going down as well, another indicator of progress.

It reminds me of this quilt:

I actually had a buyer for that one, but in the chaos of moving across country, I lost it! Ugh.

Ah, well. Have a great day!

Slow Stitching Sunday ~ Boho Log Cabin

This top sure didn’t take long. I confess, it isn’t my best work. I quickly moved on to basting so I could do some quilting at the campground.

Gotta love stitching outside!

I don’t have a hoop here and I didn’t have enough pins to baste well, but I’m forging ahead and calling those wrinkles character.

I’m making the stitches on the back longer than I have in the past while quilting this way. I think it looks much better. Live and learn.

Have a great day!

This and That

I’m nearing the end of this little bit!

This was a very thought provoking book about nurses working in Vietnam.

An AZ neighbor sent this photo of a cactus in our front yard out there! We have such good neighbors!

Another room done.

The little boy hamming it up in the middle of this photo is E3. He just finished kindergarten.

I’m looking for recommendations for a good travel iron for the RV. Any ideas?

And lastly, I received a comment recently saying that the reader would be interested in hearing more about life outside of quilting. I’ve been mulling this over. Lately, my life has been mostly cleaning, fixing, decluttering our home to sell, so that isn’t all that interesting. Once it is ready to show, I’ll share a few more photos of that. What do you all think? Only quilting? Or more life stuff? Definitely interested in hearing your thoughts.

Have a great day!
