Jelly Roll Part 2

Still working on this. I thought I’d share my process. I sew two strips together and fold them in half and cut on the fold.

I keep folding and cutting until I have 8 pieces.

Then I sew these pieces together.

Eventually, I end up with a strip that is about 32 1/2 inches long and about 5 inches wide.

I’m doing this with all my strips. Stay tuned.

Have a great day!

Throwback Thursday ~ Dear Betty 2.0

Last week, I shared my Dear Betty quilt. I decided to follow that up with this one made from leftovers. Enjoy!

I have one more UFO to cross off the list!

The pattern is a traditional block called Rolling Star. My blocks finish at 18 inches.

I used a panto called Fluid Meander from Urban Elementz .

Have a great day!

Jelly Roll Quilt

I’ve had this jelly roll for years. I bought it from Craftsy.

I paired up light and dark strips and whipped them through the machine.

Willy kept me company.

Have a great day!

Flying Fish Finish

Oh, these have been fun!

I placed them on my design bed and worked on a layout. I miss my wall!

And this is what I ended up with.

I quite like the riot of color. It will get folded and put away for now.

Have a great day!

Flying Fish

Remember these pieces I cut?

I cut them using the Go! Flying Fish die from AccuQuilt .

While sitting at the laundromat, I sorted my pieces and clipped them together into block kits.

When we got back to Dora, I was ready to sew.

Here are some of the pieces.

I’m not sure where I’m headed with this. But that’s all part of the fun, right?

Have a great day!

August Wrap-Up

I only managed one complete finish and two small tops this month. But since we sold our home and moved out, I’m considering that a win.

This next one wasn’t finished this month, but the pattern was released so I can finally share it this month.

Seriously, my little bits of sewing time were truly necessary therapy this month.

Have a great day!

Throwback Thursday ~ Dear Betty

It’s hard to believe I finished this back in 2016! Time sure flies. Enjoy!

It all started with this Christmas gift from Daughter #1.

IMG_1454

I immediately loved it, but it took me a while to find the perfect pattern for it. I finally settled on this traditional Rolling Star pattern.

These blocks are a whopping 18 inches finished.  I wanted the fabrics to really shine here.

I need a good place to hang a big quilt for pictures!

I used my pattern boards to quilt this with a Baptist Fan design. Here is the backing, it is part of a duvet cover I found on clearance. The pattern and color were perfect!

I just love the texture that the quilting gives.

I used Superior Mono-poly thread on top and white magna Glide Classic in the bobbin. It is currently living in my guest room.

Sorry for the picture overload, but I love this texture!

I love leaving the door open and walking by this room.

I didn’t end up using all the fabrics in that bundle, so another quilt from this will be coming somewhere down the road.
