Finish It Up Friday ~ Twofer

My two jelly roll baby quilt tops are done.

They are similar, but not exactly the same.

Having a design wall would have helped me to distribute the colors/prints better.

But I’m just happy to have them done.

Have a great day!

Throwback Thursday ~ Tumbler Triumph

Take a look back at this tumbler quilt with me! I finished this over four years ago now. I still love it. Enjoy!

Wendy has provided me with the best name for this quilt, Tumbler Triumph! It caused plenty of trouble, but it’s finally done.

I love the border print. I’ve saved it a long time for just the right quilt.

I’ve been using what I have on hand and this backing is a new, organic cotton sheet from Target that I had sitting around for a long time.

I had a terrible time getting good photos. It was a beautiful day, but the light was too harsh for photos

It was also plenty windy!

For now, I have it in my second guest room. It goes well with the Elongated Hexie quilt that I recently finished.

I’m thrilled that this one is done. It turned out a good twin size. Have a great day!

Log Cabins

Remember when I cut out pieces for a log cabin quilt?

I used these tackle boxes I bought at Walmart to keep my pieces organized and they have truly worked out well.

I finally started! My blocks will finish at 8 inches. I used my AccuQuilt GO! Log Cabin die to cut my pieces. I would never make these blocks without that die.

I finger pressed each seam and pressed the finished blocks with my iron when they were done.

I’m loving these so far! Have a great day!

Sanilac Petroglyphs

We recently visited this state park here in Michigan.

It is the only place known to have petroglyphs in this state.

They can be found on this turtle shaped rock. It was a sacred meeting place for three separate tribes, the Ojibway, the Fox, and the Sauk.

They were carved into this soft sandstone. Here are a few.

There is a nice hiking trail there as well.

Of course, Winslow had to get into the river.

It was hot, so she lay right down.

Have a great day!

Jelly Roll Part 3

Still working on this. I try to do all the sewing I can and then switch to pressing. Going back and forth between the two jobs is harder in the RV than in my sewing room.

I start at the end of the strip with a light piece and press all the seams away from that first piece.

When I sew rows together, all the seam allowances will nest.

I do have to trim all my rows after pressing and before joining them together.

This is another task that has an added degree of difficulty in Dora. But I got it done. Time to sew the rows!

Have a great day!

Beach

Mr. Wonderful and I had a beach day recently at the very tip of the Thumb. If you aren’t from Michigan, the lower peninsula is shaped like a mitten. The blue dot shows where we went.

It was gorgeous, almost Michigan beaches are.

Winslow has turned into quite the beach bum. Shoe loves it!

Willy enjoys the beach, but the water? Not so much.

Here is my guy. It is so like him to see something that needs doing and just do it. He always picks up trash when he sees it.

Winslow adores him.

Have a great day!

This and That

We have been enjoying some peaceful times at the campground.

Winslow has to decided to learn to sew. 😂

My how times have changed! Haha!

I often think of our founding fathers as staid, formal individuals. But they truly were rebels.

Have a great day!

Jelly Roll Part 2

Still working on this. I thought I’d share my process. I sew two strips together and fold them in half and cut on the fold.

I keep folding and cutting until I have 8 pieces.

Then I sew these pieces together.

Eventually, I end up with a strip that is about 32 1/2 inches long and about 5 inches wide.

I’m doing this with all my strips. Stay tuned.

Have a great day!

Throwback Thursday ~ Dear Betty 2.0

Last week, I shared my Dear Betty quilt. I decided to follow that up with this one made from leftovers. Enjoy!

I have one more UFO to cross off the list!

The pattern is a traditional block called Rolling Star. My blocks finish at 18 inches.

I used a panto called Fluid Meander from Urban Elementz .

Have a great day!

Jelly Roll Quilt

I’ve had this jelly roll for years. I bought it from Craftsy.

I paired up light and dark strips and whipped them through the machine.

Willy kept me company.

Have a great day!
