I picked up this scrap assortment at the local thrift for a song.

I had an idea immediately for a baby quilt to donate.

But apparently, I hadn’t had enough coffee and I made some cutting/sewing errors. So I decided to rethink my options.

I made a decision and will start sewing rows soon.

Finish It Up Friday

I started this Log Cabin quilt over two years ago and I am SO happy to say it is finally done!  

The blocks finish at 4 inches. I think I drafted the block in EQ but I don’t really remember anymore. The quilt finished at 42 inches square. And it really is square but the wind made it look like it wasn’t in these pics. 

 And the back. 

I used Warm and White batting, Glide thread, and Superior Mono-Poly. I used a template for the circles in the red border. It has 72,224 quilting stitches in the top and has 848 pieces. I did a lot of ripping on this one. It is one of the few quilts that I didn’t love working on. But now it’s done and I like it.

So I didn’t have enough of that blue. I figured I could find something close, but, no. So I decided to try red.

This is interesting.

Since I didn’t use all my 9 patches in this quilt, I decided to find a way to use the rest.

I had this blue on my cutting table and thought that would go.

Finally, I’m starting to hand quilt this vintage top.

I’m using this stencil from Barb from Fun with Barb. . I’m going to stitch this with the perle cotton you see here.

I’d like to do traditional close hand quilting, but my hands just can’t take it anymore.

Even with this, I’m going to need to pace myself.
