Log Cabins

So I’ve been working on getting these blocks together.

I placed my pieces on the railing and, ugh! Do you see it?

Over 2,000 pieces and I have two identical bits right next to each other!

I wanted to leave it. But I knew it would bug me forever.

After a bit of surgery, it’s much better.

Have a great day!

Finish It Up Friday ~ Flying Geese

And it’s done! This fabric waited in my stash a long time to become a quilt! I love these colors together.

I ended up quilting with just straight lines, top to bottom.

I love the texture.

I’m trying to do more machine binding to save my hands.

I kept the backing simple with a solid cream I had on hand.

I’m pretty happy with this one. I’m sure I’ll find a home for it.

Have a great day!

SMT Challenge

I cut out a bunch of blocks for the Scrappy Meets Thrifty Challenge (SMT).

These will eventually be set with alternate blocks. The sample block I made previously will end up in the orphan block box.

I’m making these as a leader/ender project right now. There is a real temptation to just focus on this and ignore everything else!

Have a great day!

Scrappy Meets Thrift Challenge

Taryn , @reproquiltlover on Instagram, is starting a new sewing along. This is the inspiration quilt.

Can you believe those tiny blocks finish at two inches? Incredible!

I made a sample block, but mine finishes at four inches.

These are the AccuQuilt dies I used from my 4” Qube.

I have no idea how big this will be or how many blocks I will make. Time will tell.

Have a great day!

Tree of Life

I got another block made, the yellow one.

Now I’m second guessing myself. Does it have enough contrast?

Should I make more blocks? Maybe I’ll audition some backgrounds and then decide.

Have a great day!

Flying Geese ~ Take 2

I got back to work on this. Knowing that if I put it away now, it would never again see the light of day.

As expected, I ran out of blocks.

I did have some extra HSTs leftover.

So I made a few more geese from those and now I’m finally ready to get this top sewn.

Have a great day!

Offroad!

Mister and I picked up Daughter #2 and SIL and headed out looking for adventure recently.

Our goal was to head up the Four Peaks.

We found snow!

And many other amazing sights.

We headed back along the Apache Trail. It was so beautiful!

Have a great day!

Orphan Blocks

When I’m in a bit of a slump, I sometimes go through my orphan block boxes.

I found these blocks, leftover from an AccuQuilt project.

I think these were originally from my dear neighbor and were leftover from a throw quilt made a while back.

And this. The star is hand pieced. It’s a weird 7 inches finished.

I’m putting these up on the design wall to see if they spark some ideas.

Have a great day!

Finish It Up Friday ~ Tiny Nines

Finally! This little quilt is only 40” square, but it has taken over a year to finish.

It was started in a quilt along by Taryn , @reproquiltlover on Instagram. It contains 2,838 pieces. Each tiny square finishes at one half inch.

This is the smallest piecing I’ve ever done. And none of it was done with strip piecing. Every square was cut and stitched individually.

It is quilted every half inch.

And this is where it is now hanging in my house.

I love this piece, but I’m sure glad it is done.

Have a great day!

Tree of Life Update

The next four blocks are done.

Should I make one more block, or five more blocks?

Decisions, decisions…..

Have a great day!
