Finish It Up Friday ~ Rainbow Quilt

This was such a quick quilt, but it doesn’t look like a quick quilt.

I love a good rainbow quilt! I kept the quilting simple. The backing is from a duvet cover from Pottery Barn that I picked up, still new in the package, at a garage sale.

I have been scouting out new places to take photos of finished quilts. I went to our local university. This sculpture was done by Marshall Fredericks. I love it!

Mister Wonderful and I visited the Quilt Museum in Hamilton, Missouri when we went to Missouri Star.

It was wonderful! I took a lot of photos, so I’ll share in several posts. Look at these feed sacks with the labels still attached!

I’ve managed to make a few blocks. They are very easy and stitch up quickly.

I’m not sure how I will set them yet.

But I have time to figure that out. 30 blocks to go.

EAA stands for the Experimental Aircraft Association. Each year, they host a huge fly-in in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. And every single year, growing up, that was our family vacation. I always wanted to be a wing walker.

While visiting my sister and BIL, we went to the EAA museum. Boy, did that bring back memories! My sister and I had to sit in this tiny helicopter. We weren’t sure we could get back out, especially since we were laughing so hard!

I always loved the Corsairs.

Had to take my chance to sit in this cockpit, even though I’m pretty sure it was set up for kids.

It is an amazing place. I loved it so much!

This is my BIL and Mr. Wonderful. We went here and they had the best food! Also, we’ve always loved the movie, What About Bob?

We stocked up on cheese while in Wisconsin. And I almost bought this tshirt. I should have.

Mister and I were able to take a lovely bike ride with my brother in Northern Wisconsin.

My brother now has my dad’s bike. I sat on it, but didn’t ride it. It is huge so I was a bit intimidated.

This is an older photo of my brother on his first bike.

I saw this article in a scrapbook while visiting my mom. This is my uncle.

My cousin shared this photo from a shirt from my Uncle’s shop.

Here is my uncle in his younger days.

And my dad, reunited with his first bike, a 1948 Harley.

You’ve seen this before, me and Daughter #2.

My dad on his last bike, same one my brother now owns, a Honda Shadow.

Finish It Up Friday ~ Vintage Stars

This came together so quickly! It was the perfect setting for my swap stars.

I changed mine up a bit, using the blue for the setting triangles.

I wish I had quilted the hanging diamonds closer, but I can live with it.

I bought this toile back when we lived in France in the late 1990s.

The rest of these photos show the quilt after washing.

And here it is hanging in my family room. The stars finish at 6 inches and the quilt finished at 50 by 60 inches.

I messed up the order when sewing these wedges, but I decided to leave it.

The center hole was going to be too big though. That had to be fixed. I made a freezer paper template to make the circle, pressed the edges under and top stitched it to the main part. I did cut out the center circle first.

And now the quilting is in progress.

I’m just doing a simple meander.
