New Hand Quilting Project

I decided to hand quilt this top next. I kept the fabric I was considering using for a border to use as a binding.

Once again, Baptist Fans! But you probably already guessed that.

It’s coming along nicely! These small tops go pretty fast. I think I’m halfway done with the quilting already. I’m using my big stencil from Fun with Barb.

Have a great day!

This and That

I recently participated in a doll quilt swap on Instagram. I received this gorgeous little quilt from Becky in Canada! I love it so much!

Monday was National Cactus Day and Jack bloomed on that very day. I’m glad he’s happy in our yard and thankful Daughter #2 was there to capture the magic.

I may have mentioned that I went home to help my mom get ready to move. Winslow loves her.

I had a great time with my older sister as well. We are posing with a statue of a Hodag . It is the official mascot of my home town. Click the link if you want to learn more about it.

I took this photo of the park in front of my mom’s new place. Love the tree shadow!

I ran into plenty of snow on the way home, along with rain, sleet, wind, and thunder storms. Typical Michigan weather.

E3 is growing so much! He’s learning to drive the little Jeep and just got his big boy bed. Time is flying by way too fast.

Have a great weekend!

Finish It Up Friday ~ In for a Penny

Even with totally reconstructing this, it still finished quickly. It’s small, only about 40 by 50 inches.

I used Quilter’s Dream batting and it drapes beautifully.

I really enjoyed quilting this. I was almost sad to see it done so soon.

I think the variegated thread adds a fun touch, along with the purple dyed feedsack bits.

This backing is from bloggy friend, Ila. I used the rest of this on another quilt you can see here.

It was pretty cold and dreary the day I took these photos. I hope it warms up soon!

Have a great day!

Something New ~ Jewel Box

Sigh…..these perfectly cut piles of pieces make me so happy…

I’m using my scraps of Pindrop to make Jewel Box blocks. I used these Accuquilt dies to cut my pieces.

If you have a GO! Cutter, you can use these dies:

I have and use both the Studio Cutter and the GO! I love them both.

This is where I’m at so far. Stay tuned!

I also wanted to share a few current deals from Accuquilt .

Have a great day!

EPP

This little quilt is moving along. It’s a good size for taking in the car.

I wish I had pieced the rows in a different order, but I’m not ripping out now.

I have a few more rows to go. Have a great day!

Aunt Martha’s Broken Star Kit

I’ve always wanted one of these kits. I finally found one at a price I was willing to pay.

I was so excited that the seams were marked so I could hand piece it.

Except, only the top piece in each stack was marked. ☹️

I decided to machine piece one diamond to see how it would go. The answer? Not good.

Hmmm…. not sure where to go from here. This might have to sit a while.

Have a great day!

Postage Stamp Progress

I finished the blocks for this quilt.

It was harder to lay out than I expected. It seemed that no matter where I placed blocks, there were pieces of similar color in adjacent pieces.

I finally gave up and just sewed them together. This is what I found in my stash for a border.

I wanted a print, but not something that would make this even busier than it already was. This is the panto I’m using.

So far, so good!

Have a great day!

Slow Stitching Sunday

Quilting is progressing nicely, even though I’ve spent the last week visiting my mom and helping pack up her stuff to move out of my childhood home. Quilting really is good therapy.

This will be done soon. Of course, I’m doing Baptist Fans again, but these are smaller than I normally do.

I’ve had this stencil for ages. I’m using a blue washout marker.

This is the crochet thread I’m using for quilting. I hope I don’t run out!

If I do, I’ll make do with something around here. It’s a make do kind of quilt.

Have a great day!

Antique Quilts and Such

I stopped at a local antique mall recently. I quite liked this pinwheel top.

And this flying geese top was fun! It had really wide strips between the geese.

There were several of these blocks.

And several runners made from yo-yos.

I loved these, but I knew I wasn’t buying, so I didn’t unfold them. That Irish Chain though….

Love, love, love this chevron top!

I’m seeing a revival of these kinds of things lately.

Not a quilt, but I loved this!

A strange apron, newly made from old blocks. Nope.

This was labeled as being a bib. I don’t think so. But then, I have no clue what it actually is. Any ideas?

Hope you enjoyed this little diversion. Have a great day!
