This was a good month for finishes!

That was partly due to the fact that I had tops to finish that I had pieced in the RV this summer.

Have a great day!

I’ve been trying to come up with a quilting plan for this little bit.

Some sashing ideas….

Some block ideas.

Maybe just Baptist Fans.

Or a grid.

Hmmmm….
Have a great day!
I mentioned that I was bringing knitting along on this trip. I’m working on a dish cloth.

It’s the second one this week out of the same yellow yarn.

And I got a small start on a baby sock. Have I mentioned what a slow knitter I am?

The leaves are changing here and they are beautiful.

Have a great day!
I flew to Wisconsin to visit my mom for a week. The clouds from the plane were beautiful!

It was pretty cool to see Theodore Roosevelt Lake from the air.

And if you needed an excuse to let the housework go…

I’m no great cook, but I made this for my mom and we both loved it. I found the recipe on Pinterest.

A good reminder.

Have a great day!
My Jelly Roll Chain quilt is done.

It’s a right, happy quilt, perfect for Project Linus.

I used the cutaways from the backing to make the binding.

I’m really glad I added the blues. I see now that I have a block out of place! Ugh. I guess it’s staying!
Have a great day!
Since I’m traveling this week, I thought I’d share this post of a favorite finish from ten years ago. Enjoy!

I’m so happy to have this one finished! I do love scrappy quilts!

You may remember that I started this one back in July when I was cleaning up my Denyse Schmidt scraps.

I wanted to custom quilt this one but I didn’t want something as labor intensive as the Little Sister quilt. Some easy feathers in the white space seemed to fit the bill.

Looking at these pictures in the sunshine, I can see that I used more than one brand of white fabric in the white triangles. That happens when you use scraps. I quilted the ribbon candy design in the scrappy areas. Good thing these are busy bits because I clearly need a lot of practice with this design. This was my first time using it.

I went with a solid white backing.

Looks like some of those flower petals got a bit squished too!

I used Glide thread and Pellon Legacy 80/20 batting.
Have a great day!
This is my Great Grandmother and Great Grandfather. He immigrated to Wisconsin from Germany in the 1860s. He was much older than she was, like 35 years older!

As soon as he arrived and before he married, he got right to work homesteading and built this house in Oneida County, Wisconsin.

He raised sheep and his knitting won ribbons at the county fair!
And here is an example of his handwork. Long John’s! My cousin’s wife gifted these to me.

His mending is fantastic too.

The bag also contained this partially knit sock.

Curiously, it has a number 5 embroidered on in pink thread.

These spats were also included.

I’ve heard stories about this for years! It is so fun to finally see them. There are two sweater tops. The bottoms have gone missing, perhaps worn out? They were surely useful in Northern Wisconsin winters.
Have a great day!
I haven’t knitted anything in ages. But I have a trip and need a project.

I have some lovely yarn yet. Though I did downsize a bit and sent a bunch to my niece. She is a very talented knitter.

What a mess!

I want to try to make baby socks for some expectant mommas I know.
Wish me luck! Have a great day!
I’ve been in the mood to make a mini. So I’ve been looking around for something to start. This has been on my bulletin board for ages.

I found these leftover four patches I could use. The prints are all feed sack prints.

Okay, definitely not a mini, but I’d love to finish this soon. It’s kind of overwhelming though.

I need to go back to my Pinterest boards, I think. Or maybe I just need to clean my sewing room…..or finish some UFOs…..
Pinterest it is.
Ha! Have a great day!
These squares are leftover from this quilt.

I cut the triangles thinking I’d use them like this.

Or this.

I think I’ll need to spend a lot of time sorting before I decide for sure.
Have a great day!
