Cleaning has begun!

Getting started on this huge project is a real struggle. It won’t get done overnight. I started by folding and measuring pieces I have on hand for quilt backings.

Each piece got a label pinned to it with the size.

I also sorted this little cabinet.

All scissors are in one place.

Same for rotary cutters and blades.

The other drawers have needles, marking tools, and picture hanging supplies.

Not a lot of progress, but given this horrible cold, I’m calling it good.

Have a great day!

Ugh!

My room is a disaster!

My fabric all needs sorting and refolding.

I still have boxes from Michigan.

And my dies are everywhere.

I’m posting these photos so I feel accountable to start cleaning and sorting.

Wish me luck.

Summit Stitches QAL

I’ve been a bit under the weather so making these four patches into 16 patches was just the ticket.

I actually have all 20 done now. I think the next step comes out today.

Have a great day!

Weird Things

Welcome to another episode of weird things found on FB Marketplace!

I’m pretty sure my sister in law will want this….

Now this is something I really wanted! But I was too late, it already sold.

Doesn’t that look like my Winslow?

Hope these things made you smile! Have a great day!

This and That

Another puzzle finish. Another missing piece. Ugh.

I took a photo of the moon! Actually, I took a bunch, but this was the best one.

This is so true!

I love C.S. Lewis.

This describes my three hooligans!

Have a great day!

Finish It Up Friday ~ Sawmill

This was a quick finish!

It ended up at 48 by 64 inches.

It used eight fat quarters plus two yards of background fabric.

I used leftover backing for the binding.

Ta daaa! Now I just have to add a label and it will be out the door!

Have a great day!

Throwback Thursday

Here is a throwback post from eight years ago. I sure do miss my Stitching Sisters QOV group! Enjoy!

Finish It Up Friday ~ Snowball QOV

Posted on November 17, 2017 by katyquilts

I think this might be my favorite QOV that I have made.

I started out with a layer cake that I bought with a gift certificate from Mr. Wonderful. I added some fabric from friends Zenia and Ila, and this panel from Barb V.

The backing was also from Ila. It was so perfect for this top!

Thanks to my friends for adding their bits and pieces to this quilt! I was so happy that I could go to the Stitching Sisters Sew Day last Saturday. These ladies are just the best! Here are some pics from our presentations on Veteran’s Day.

All of these veterans have received QOVs from our group.

I presented my quilt to Bud, a Navy vet that served during WW2. He worked on troop transport ships in the Atlantic.

Here’s a pic of some of our group.

It was such a wonderful time. I love this organization and my Stitching Sisters!

Have a great day!

Summit Stitches QAL

The next step for the QAL is out! I was thrilled to find I could use my 4” Qube to cut the necessary pieces.

These are the dies I used.

I cut all pieces from the scrap bins.

Ta daaa! Five 4” sawtooth star blocks.

I wonder what is next.

BTW, are any of you doing the Quiltville Mystery? I’ve never done it, but I just might this year. I can’t do pinks and purples though. Any tips for a newbie to Bonnie Hunter mysteries?

Have a great day!

Saw Mill

I’ve decided to call this Saw Mill. The block starts with these large 8 1/2” HST blocks.

Next, I placed them on my 2” strip die. Notice they are all oriented the same way. I used my AccuQuilt Studio die, but there is a GO! Die that you can use as well.

This is what I ended up with.

And just some tiny slivers of waste.

I rearrange my strips like this.

You can see after sewing them back together, I end up with a block that measures 6 1/2 inches by 8 1/2 inches.

I’m only doing this version, but by turning your HSTs before cutting them into strips, you can get a mirror image block.

Back to sewing. Have a great day!
