Grandmother’s Fan

AccuQuilt has released a new die! I was super excited to try this out.

It took no time at all to cut the pieces I needed.

First you piece the fan blades together.

Then you add the little quarter circle piece. These photos show my first time piecing this block. See the little notches? You can pin at the notches to keep everything perfectly aligned.

Sewing that part seemed scary, but it worked out just fine. Next, line up the outer piece, pin, and stitch.

Not bad for my very first block!

For the next block, I skipped the pins altogether. I lined up the pieces at the beginning of the curve and took a few stitches.

Then I lined up the first notches and continued stitching.

When I got to the first notches, I lined up the next set.

I actually had better success without pins and it was much faster!

There are so many layout options with this block. Here are a few.

Come back on Friday to see my finished quilt!

Have a great day!

My this month has flown by! Here are my finishes for February.

The next one wasn’t actually finished this month, but it was my first official pattern release for AccuQuilt and it was released this month.

Slow Stitching Sunday

It’s binding time!

I don’t know where this print came from, but it is perfect for this quilt.

I hope to finish this hand stitching today so I can share this finish with you soon.

As far as Winslow is concerned, it’s done enough.

Have a great day!

Finish It Up Friday ~ Orange Craze

My jelly roll quilt is done. It is bright! 😎

I kept the quilting to a simple meander

I used part of a sateen sheet for the back.

And bound it with some leftovers from the same sheet.

This finished up at 48 by 60, a good size for a kid.

Part 2 of the AccuQuilt QuiltCon event is today at 12 PM Central time. Click here to register for prizes.

You might just see a short interview with someone you know….

Have a great day!

Leader/Ender Update

I decided to move ahead with my fabric choice for this leader/ender project. I appreciate all of your comments. You were right, use the good stuff! I’ll figure out the back later.

I have 6 12 inch blocks done so far. This will be limited in size by the amount of blue background fabric that I have.

There is certainly no shortage of scrappy squares!

Hmmmm…..

Have a great day!

Part 2 of Something New

My strips have all been sewn and subcut.

Blocks are being made. I almost need sunglasses for this!

I’ve made enough to play a bit at the design wall. I can see already that this will be the hardest part.

I still have plenty of blocks to piece.

Have a great day!

Something New

I have had this jelly roll hanging around for a long time.

I was in the mood for bright colors and something quick. This fit the bill. I’m pairing this with some orange yardage. Wow! That’s bright!

I used this die to cut up more strips.

I made some strip sets.

I used the same strip die to sub cut my strip sets.

To be continued….

Have a great day!
