Mario

I finally started my Christmas sewing. I wanted it done by Thanksgiving and just realized that is only two weeks away.

I’m on a mission to knock out this top, this week. I’m using 2 1/2” squares and a cross stitch pattern to make this.

Because this boy needs a Mario quilt.

It looks so much better after sewing.

Back to sewing! Have a great day !

Wait!!! I nearly forgot! The Quilt Keeper currently has a $10 rebate if you purchase the three pack! These are awesome for yourself or to give as a gift.

Strings

About a week ago, I came across this string bin. Ugh. I nearly emptied the whole thing in the trash.

Then I decided to piece some together. I have no real plan here.

Finding strips of similar size was frustrating. So I started pressing and sorting.

This took forever!

But it was helpful. I started sewing similar size strips together.

I still have many strips left to sew and no idea what I’ll do with these panels.

Have a great day!

Welcome QAL

This is where I was when you saw this last.

I’ve left this up on the design wall trying to decide where to go from here. I started thinking about using alternate blocks.

Maybe a plain border, instead of the pieced one in the original.

Blue?

Maybe this?

Thinking, thinking, thinking….

Have a great day!

A Little Something

I’ve had this little quilt pinned for ages on Pinterest. It was time to make it!

I love a tray of perfectly cut pieces!

How fun is this?

Borders are on!

And…..drumroll please……

Such a satisfying little thing!

Have a great day!

Finish It Up Saturday ~Temecula Shoo Fly

When I got to cutting my alternate squares for this quilt, I realized I had cut my initial pieces wrong and my blocks were bigger than they were supposed to be!

No worries, I had plenty of fabric in the kit for the blocks. I just left off the border.

I just love this piece! My diagonal cross hatch quilting is far from perfect, but it isn’t noticed looking at it straight on.

I see you all tilting your heads to see my crooked lines! 😂

Have a great day!

Finish It Up Friday ~ Pindrop

I finished this just in time to get some outdoor photos at a nearby park before the weather turned.

The quilting is the best part so bear with my closeups.

It finished at 44 by 48”, so a nice size baby quilt.

It was so nice the day I took pics, that I went on my bike. Probably the last good riding day of the season here in Michigan.

This quilt is quite similar to one I made a few years ago. You can check out Checkers here.

Have a great day!

Temecula Kit

I recently received this in the mail from a quilty friend.

It included all the fabric needed. Within 30 minutes of getting the mail, I had my block pieces cut! I was so excited!

And not long later, the first two blocks were done.

Before dinner, they were all done!

This is how I pressed these small blocks.

More to come! Have a great day!

Jack

One of E3’s favorite things in AZ, was our cactus, Jack. We said hello and goodbye each time we left the house or came home.

He told Daughter #1 that he wanted cactus pajamas. So what does a nana do? She buys green sweats.

Marks a bazillion dots.

And starts stitching “pokeys.”

He was quite pleased with himself!

Definitely the cutest cactus I’ve ever seen. He ended up using this as his costume for Halloween.

Have a great day ! 🌵

Pin Drop HSTs

Remember these?

I didn’t forget them. I was just waiting on inspiration.

And I thought I found it. But this sat on the wall for quite a while and went no further.

Then I saw some artwork by Anni Albers. Incredible! So that led to this.

If I can stop looking at her work online, I might make some progress on this.

Have a great day!

October Wrap-Up

I had a surprising number of finishes, given that I was out of town part of the month. Of course, I have an out of town sewing room. 😊

This little one is my clear favorite.

I should call this one Lemonade, since it came from the lemons of a cutting mistake.

Loved making this table topper and now I have another idea for using the Hunter’s Star die.

Dancing Dogs was quick and fun!

I’m glad I remembered to finish this while it was still fall.

And lastly, Kansas Dugout.

I guess I should start thinking about Christmas now!

Have a great day!
