Slow Stitching Sunday

Until I picked this project back up, I hadn’t done any hand piecing in ages. I’m really enjoying this again, even though it is vvvveeeerrrrryyyyyy slow stitching for me.

I have found that adding one row on any side and then stopping to press seems to work best.

I lay out a row.

Then clip it together to keep things in order. Curiously, when I machine piece, I sew a row left to right. When I hand piece, I go right to left. I have no idea why; it just feels right.

Once the pieces for the row are sewn, I add it to the main piece. BTW, I’m not sure I shared the dies I used for cutting. Or maybe it’s just my old brain. Anyway, these are what I used for cutting.

Hubby discovered a new series on Amazon, so maybe I’ll get more done on this in the evenings this week.

I’m not gonna lie, this is kinda weird. But I love Sissy Spacek and JK Simmons and the beautiful relationship between their characters.

Have a great day!

This and That

So much secret sewing this week! Nothing that I can share yet. But read to the end of some cool news!

Daughter #1 bought this for me a few years ago and I love it! You can change out the pieces in the back of the Jeep for holidays/seasons. I love the pumpkins for fall!

This oldie was recently unearthed. Definitely fall colors.

I had an EMG recently checking on Carpal Tunnel. Thus was on the ceiling and they had a tape of ocean waves playing. It was not relaxing.

This gigantic quilt found a home as a wedding quilt for a friend. Her tiny dog, Henry , approves.

And I saved the best for last! Daughter #2 has opened a sweet little online Boutique !

She has some adorable stuff stacked at very reasonable prices. And this is the cool thing:

Finish It Up Friday ~ Bow Ties

It’s done!

I started making these bow tie blocks back in AZ. Can you tell I love red, white, and blue quilts?

I used a plain muslin on the back, it’s what I had on hand.

The grid is about 3/4”. Yes, it took forever. But the texture is worth it.

The binding is a very old Harriet Hargrave print.

It finished at 63 by 90 inches.

And yes, I know some of the blocks are turned. I think it adds interest.

Have a great day!

Cheddar is Better!

I decided to change out some of the quilts in the house. I was in the mood for a bit of cheddar.

The late afternoon light gives some funky shadows on that one above!

Clearly the next one is not cheddar, but it does have falling leaves.

I have a lot more to do, but changing out the quilts does motivate one to do some cleaning. so I guess that’s a win-win!

Have a great day!

Antiques Show Quilts Part 2

I really wanted to buy this quilt. It might be the one that haunts me.

It was tied, but n amazing condition. Check out that flag!

So much to look at!

That neon backing was incredible.

And check out that whisker guard! That black edging is piping!

Yep, I should have bought it.

Here are some others I saw.

Had to take a picture of this. I had this when I was little! It was part of a three piece set and one of my favorite gifts ever. I’m sure I wore mine out. It had the exact same print/colors on the outside.

Have a great day!

Slow Stitching Sunday

I made some progress last weekend, even though I didn’t stitch at all on the way home.

I hate when I have more than one row to press at a time. I had forgotten that.

But I do love this and the stitching is easy. I did cut some more scraps to add some newer bits to the mix.

Before I go, I wanted to let you know about this great deal from Connecting Threads .

Also, these great deals from AccuQuilt .

Have a great day!

Finish It Up Friday ~ Doll Quilts

My doll quilts are done! I had so much fun making them.

Definitely not works of art, but I hope they are enjoyed by the children that will receive them.

And Sweet Willy Boy wanted to get in on things.

Have a great day!
