Where has this week gone?

I can’t believe I didn’t have a post scheduled ahead for today! That shows how crazy life has been. Lots of secret sewing going on, which means progress has been made on my leader/ender project.

My total number of blocks?

My goal is 80. I’d like this project wrapped up before I go back north. Have a great day!

Scraps

Remember these solid scraps?

I got them all pressed and sorted according to size.

Then I started chopping them up into 2 1/2” HSTs.

This is the die I’m using.

I’m not sure where this is headed, but I have a lot more solid scraps, so I’ll carry on.

Have a great day!

25 Patches

Remember these? A friend sent them to me.

She also sent the cheddar print squares.

I came across this very old piece in my stash and I love how it looks with the cheddar and scrappy squares.

But how can I spice this up a bit? Could it become a medallion? Or be put on point? I need to figure this out. This is one idea I worked on. It has some potential.

Have a great day!

Jelly Roll Sew Along – Part 2

Ready to get sewing? This is what you will be working on this week.

After pairing up my strips, I began sewing them together. Below you can see groups of four strips sewn together, two matching WOF prints and two background strips alternating.

These are then subcut into 2 1/2” strips, as shown below.

I took eight of each unit and sewed them end to end, always pressing toward the dark. Then I sewed the two long strips together to form the checkerboard strips. All your seams should nest. Below you can see six sets finished.

The photo above shows 6 columns. So the assignment for this week, is to get this much done. Then you will be almost halfway!

BTW, here are great deal that end tonight at AccuQuilt .

Have a great day!

See that dark line in the photo below? That is the Mexican border.

It’s always fun to ride in her pink Jeep!

This and That

I found this little machine on Facebook Marketplace last weekend. That’s about the only thing I use Facebook for. I got a cover for it, but no attachments. I did find a manual online. It sews a lovely stitch!

Daughter #2 gave me this. Isn’t it fun?

Found this fun fabric at Goodwill. Of course, it had to come home.

Along with this mug.

Have a great weekend!

Finish It Up Friday ~ Layer Cake Loop

I can finally share some secret sewing that I completed back in January for Fat Quarter Shop . I used this layer cake to make the Layer Cake Loop quilt, from their Short Cut Quilt series.

The free pattern will soon be available from Fat Quarter Shop . This fabric is there now.

This was fast and fun!

I found these fabrics to be so interesting and pretty!

Have a great day!

Experiment Part 2

So, I cut oversized triangles to put my star together. It is not perfect. Some of you have asked what size I would cut the settings triangles, the answer to that is that I have no answer. I clearly did t figure correctly so I trimmed it after piecing. Sorry about that!

There is more fullness around the edges than I would like. But I see potential here. And I do like this so far.

I added a narrow green border and I’m trying to decide where to go from here. I rather wanted to make a pieced border, but maybe a wider background border is what is called for.

Decisions, decisions…

Have a great day!

An Experiment

I was thinking about this AccuQuilt die and wondered if I could use it to make a bigger star.

This is the block it was created to make.

So I used some solid scraps and used the die to cut up a bunch of diamonds.

I sewed them together in strips of three.

Then sewed the three strips together.

So far, so good!

Now I need to figure out the setting pieces. That might be trickier.

Have a great day!

February Wrap- Up

I know February is a short month, but this has flown by at break neck speed! This is what I finished this month.

I made 5 of these little Valentine quilts. They were so fun!

This was actually finished in January, but the blog post for AccuQuilt came out this month so now I can share it.

I really thought I’d gotten more done. Ah well, moving right along….

Have a great day!
