I finished up both of these art quilts this week. It has been so much fun getting back into improv.
Daughter #3 suggested adding some embroidery to this. I had already been thinking of adding some hand quilting, so this is what I ended up with.

I love how the directional weave of the fabrics adds interest l

Loving that texture.

And here is the second piece. I think this is my favorite of the two.

This photo really shows the texture of the quilting.

I need names, so if you have any great ideas, let me know in the comments!
Have a great day!
I’m not good at finding great names for quilts 😉 Both are beautiful, I love the added embroidery too, and how you played with the strippy fabric.
#1. Stair Steps
#2. Garden Rows
Both of these are such fun – the addition of the embroidery was brilliant! My improv pieces usually name themselves, so maybe just spend a bit more time looking at them and see what they tell you?
I really like both. Maybe call the second one, “No Boundaries” because it looks like fences that do not form an enclosure. I am looking forward to summer when I will not be subbing at school and will have time to enjoy quilting. I love small projects and I’d like to try some small “art” pieces. My mother and sister are both artists (on canvas)…maybe, I’ll be the artist on fabric. LOL.
The first one “Cross Walks”
