It seems silly to call this quilt Welcome, unless you know what it was supposed to be!

This is the picture from the pattern cover.

So, what happened? I used spool blocks in place of the letter blocks. Decided to use alternate blocks, which required making a couple more pieced blocks. Then I chose a plain border. What can I say? I’m terrible at following patterns.

Baptist Fan quilting for the win! By the way, my quilt finished at 57” square.

And though it doesn’t look like it in this photo, I used a scrappy binding and a solid backing.

It just wanted to dance in the breeze!

A big thanks to Lori for another great QAL. I’ll add Lori’s link as soon as she posts so you can see the other finishes from this QAL.
ETA: The link up is here!
Have a great day!
Fun interpretation of the pattern! No designer ever has said their pattern must only be made exactly as designed. It’s always more fun to figure out how to make it your own!
You are terrible at following patterns and oh so wonderful at designing quilts! I love when you say things like “I used spool blocks in place of the letter blocks.” Kinda makes my quilty head and heart explode at the same time. You could call it Spools and Fans, but it speaks “Welcome” all by itself. 🥰
So darling! Thanks for sewing along!
It is so adorable! Thanks for adding the link!
I love it, and even if you didn’t plan to have your quilt finish quite like that, I’m all for making a quilt your own. Wonderful finish!
*hugs*

🙂
I love it. Making it your own by changing things up is great! Good lap size too.
I love it, I was going to do the SAL with Lori also but didn’t like the lettering : (
After seeing you quilt I may (will) do it. It’s a wonderful quilt. Do you do your own quilting?
This quilt is beautiful, Katy! From your blog, it looks like you and Mark have a place in Arizona now. Are you there for the winter? I’ll be in Michigan over Chridtmas and would love to see you if you’re still in MI. Maybe PM me on FB? Love, Jane
Yours turned out beautiful!! I think I might still have that book, I’ll have to look. I loved Little Quilts back in the day. Hugs,
I know I sound like a broken record but it’s just beautiful, Katy! I love the quilting.
Good job. I like your version better. Good choice of fabrics. Merry Christmas!
Another pretty finish! I like it much better without the letters, to be honest. Your fabrics are very cozy and perfect for the fall season!
