I finished the quilt for E3! This was quite the creative challenge for me, but I think it turned out alright.

I quilted the glued appliqué shapes down and then couched yarn over top on the long arm. Not the straightest lines in the world, but it will do.

When I loaded this up, I quilted the background sky and around each cactus to secure it. Next I quilted the black area at the bottom and finished up with the couching.

I fused a moon shape and couched over top.

I even remembered my tag!

It’s far from perfect, but fun to do something totally different.
Have a great day!
I you take a good look at nature you will find tha trees do not grow straight, that there are odd bumps and shapes there as well. You did GREAT!
Love the combination of fabrics and techniques you’ve used and the simplicity of the design. Perfect! And I agree with other comments that the organic look of the couching is in keeping with nature’s way!
Fantastic one-of-a-kind design for a very special young man! I’m sure he’s going to LOVE it!

That ended up so beautiful! The yarn couching really makes it. And the crooked lines are actually perfect. I mean when was the last time you saw straight lines on a real cactus?
This turned out so cute — your grandson is going to love it!!! The couching adds the perfect touch!
It’s adorable!! Hugs,
He is going to love it! The couching adds a fun touch. You did good!
The couching was an inspired addition to the cactus! And the background colors are so vivid and true to life. Really a terrific quilt, bravo.
BRAVO!! It looks perfect to me and E3 will think it perfection too! You are my hero!
The couching was a great addition. Good job!
It’s a wonderful quilt and will be well loved!
oops, meant to say, the lines aren’t perfectly straight because in nature they wouldn’t be either.
Fabulous. The couching makes the cacti stand out. I love that the lines are perfectly straight because in nature, that’s the norm.
Love it. Well done.
