I settled on a design for this small banner.

I used this Accuquilt studio die to cut my stars. They also have star dies to fit the Accuquilt GO!

I originally wanted a print background, but I couldn’t find anything in my stash that I was happy with. Then I remembered I had this variegated thread.

I decided to use that to break up the white background. I used this American flag print for the backing.

I love the effect of the variegated thread!

Accuquilt has free embroidery files that you can download to finish the edges of these shapes with an embroidery machine. I decided to just fuse the shapes down and then quilt closely to hold them in place.

Love the texture!

love how you finished your banner. simple but bold. i’ve been wondering if that matchstick quilting would look good on a mini pineapple quilt (3″ blocks, 12 blocks). will have to be brave one of these days. followed the squirrel to the bit coins. slow but looking good. have a great weekend. patti in florida

i really love how the variegated thread added (completed!) your banner! i would never have thought that it could add so much! i enjoy your daily posts, (even the “controversial” ones over in IG!) haha. looking forward to the sew along, too. i have the studio2 cutter. ( i might have even got it through your link.) i LOVE it! i use it alot, too, especially for charity quilts for my church group. i have the churn dash, tumbler and a bunch of rectangles and squares. i have a triangle, too, that i’m currently working on a quilt- your shark teeth inspired me!
Love that Accuquilt offers machine embroidery designs for these dies. It’s a wonderful accompaniment to perfectly cut letters and other shapes! (What can I say – I’m an embroidery junkie!) Your choice to fuse then quilt was just right for this project; it’s beautiful. Love the quote, too.
