Two posts in one day? Sometimes news can’t wait!
I received an e-mail as I’m an affiliate for the Fat Quarter Shop with this news:
We have changed our daily Flash Sale time from 10 AM CST to 8 AM CST. Our Tuesday night Flash Sale time will also move up two hours to 8 PM CST. In addition to the time change, on some days we will put several items on sale
More sales? I’m in!
Wow! Cool news! Here are the sales for today to give you an idea.
Having several flash sales at one time means it is worth the low shipping fee just to take advantage of these deals. Dangerous, I know! And yes, I receive a small commission on any purchases made after clicking through the links on my page. It doesn’t cost you any more, but helps support the costs of the blog. I appreciate your support!
And that brings me to another change you’ll be seeing here soon. I’ve always resisted ads on my blog, I find them annoying. But the reality is that because of the amount of blogging that I do, I have to have a “business” account from WordPress. I am an affiliate for Fat Quarter Shop , Urban Elementz, and Accuquilt and the small income from that helps. But since I don’t work outside the home and quilting is not a business for me, I need to make this blog self sufficient financially. So, I’m going to try the ad route for a month and see how it goes. I don’t have control over the ads posted. I will get paid based on the number of ad views (so you don’t have to click on anything) and if I understand correctly, I get paid a bit more if you do click and purchase.
As I said, I’m going to do a trial period and then reevaluate whether or not to continue. I hope you will hang in there with me and I’ll be asking for honest feedback on this down the road a piece. I really do appreciate each and every one of you!
And here’s a quilt photo to make this post complete.
This is a vintage top that Mr. Wonderful gave me for Christmas a few years back. I quilted and bound it.
Have a great day!
I’ve had ads on my blog for a number of years. I do it more for the “cache” than the income which is minimal.
Holding my feet to the fire on fabric purchases, but I love FQS.
Have really enjoyed your posts this past year and look forward to what you have planned in 2020.
All platforms have free options, but they have limits. Because I blog ever day and use lots of photos, I go beyond normal storage and have to pay or delete years worth of posts. It is supposed to only have one ad at the end of each post. I have elected to not allow any more than that. I don’t like blogs with lots of ads either!

I had no idea you had to pay tp post on WordPress, Katy. Could you switch to a different host, such as Blogger, whic is free? I will continue to read at any rate, unless it gets super annoying with pop-ups and the like. I absolutely adore you mini quilts especially those inspired by antique quilts, which are regular inspiration for me. Happy New Year, my dear!
I understand the addition of ads but I don’t like them. As the previous commenter mentioned, I rarely (!) visit Bonnie’s blog because of the excessive number of ads (even understanding why they are there). Good luck with your trial period.
Hi Katy! Moving the Flash sale start time is fabulous news, I think. I get their emails and invertible it is just before 10am when I get around to opening it. I never, EVER remember to go back to their website 20 minutes later. Also, I usually read your posts via WP Reader but I’ll start going directly to your website so that I can click on your links. Especially when checking on the FQS. Happy New Year. ~smile~ Roseanne P.S. Some websites have SO many ads that I don’t frequent them at all. The one that springs to mind is Bonnie Hunter’s – she may have fabulous QALs but I can’t stand all the ads in the middle of reading a post. See what works for you! I completely understand needing to supplement the cost of blogging!
