Rope Baskets

You may remember a while back when I made a rope basket.

Since it was claimed by Daughter #3, I decided to make another. I practiced on a small length and made this coaster.

Then I decided to try an oval basket. I just using cotton clothesline rope and a zig zag stitch.

Ran out of rope!

It does get a bit awkward as it grows.

I wrapped the ends in a big of muslin when I needed to join another piece.

Ran out of rope again.

I’m not sure how this will end up. Stay tuned!

Looks nice. What are the rough dimensions of your oval base?

I too have cotton clothes line, books on how to, and intend to make these. Looking forward to seeing what you learn and how difficult it could be.

  4. I have two bundles of rope, waiting for me to get brave enough to try this. Looking forward to seeing the final of yours!
