…..if you woke up one morning and all of your stash was gone…
…..all the yardage….
…..all the precuts……
….all the bundles….
That is exactly what has happened to hundreds of quilters as a result of the California fires. They lost much more than fabric, they lost homes, family members, and friends. But fabric and quilting supplies are ways we can help.
There is a quilt shop out there that is accepting donations. They are setting up a “store” with these donations where quilters who have lost everything can shop for free.
If you would like to thin out your stash, you can send any fabric, tools, books etc. to this address:
Please mark the box, Attention: Rhonda.
Have a wonderful day!
We are facing the same thing here in Florida in the Panhandle…so many people lost everything and many are still living in tents. There is a group here (Quilt Blessings for the Panhandle on Facebook) making quilts as fast as we can for these forgotten people (nothing on the news once the hurricane was over). It is heart wrenching. The first quilt delivery will be Saturday and there are approximately 700 quilts ready to be delivered. What wonderful people quilters are!
Katy, if you can db check that they are still accepting fabric that would be great. I was just there and as far as I know they would like more quilts, less fabric- but notions, cutters, scissors, etc.
thanks for providing an address. i will definitely be shipping them quite a bit. i cannot imagine the losses they feel from these events. thanks again.
So helpful to have a place to send fabrics. I live in Northern California, so all the better to help out my fellow quilters. Putting together a box to send today.
Thank you for sharing the address, Katy! I was wondering about that the other day. I need to do this. What a great way to help out our quilting friends who have lost so much!
