I haven’t kept up with the monthly mini challenges over on the Small Quilt Talk Yahoo group over the last year of so. But I was in the mood for a mini recently, so I checked in to see what the current challenge was. This year, the challenges will all be based on quilts from Kathy Tracy’s latest book. I started with this pile of four patches.
They were set stripy style using sashing. You were supposed to use some sort of stripe here, but I went with what I had on hand. I also seemed to have forgotten the pattern, which called for only those two middle sashing strips. I got carried away and sashed everything!
I added some mismatched borders and quilted it on my Singer 301. Nearly all the fabrics in this little quilt came from the box of fabrics Ila sent me! Thanks again, Ila! I couldn’t have made this without you!
By the way, I enjoyed reading all of your comments yesterday about the bias edges on blocks. Val asked if having a straight of grain border helped if the blocks are on the bias. It does if the borders are carefully and accurately applied. However, it is much more difficult to apply the borders accurately if the blocks have bias edges.
Have a wonderful day!

This is such a lovely little finish. I haven’t set anything on point yet but it gives it such a wonderful look.
Looks wonderful! Do you have a walking foot for the 301 or use it as is?
Comme beaucoup de tes ouvrages, j’adore celui-ci.

What a sweet little quilt. I like the scrappiness of the borders and the back, and the colors are gorgeous.
Sew cute, especially the backing. I love pieced backs.
Such a beautiful quilt – front and back!
Very pretty! I like the pieced back too!
Sweet little mini in my favorite color combo – well done!
That is JUST adorable!! I love the mismatched borders and I LOVE the quilt design in the corner blocks. This had to be so much fun to work on. If you ever have a little granddaughter she’ll have doll quilts galore!
Now that is pretty neat..
I am tempted to do one today but have a project that
I really need to finish. I too love doing minis.
Very sweet little finish!
Love your little mini 4-patch! How ironic that I just finished the top of a mini 4-patch too in purples! I also set them on point. I will probably hand quilt it but am trying to decide on how to do it. I’ve always loved miniatures and have decided recently to start making more of them. They finish up much quicker and are easier to quilt and cuter to boot!
This is precious!! I love pink and brown together. I like your backing too. Have a good weekend. Hugs,
What a delightful little quilt. I have a fondness for minis, since that’s what got me hooked on quilting. I like your surprise of a pieced backing too. This one looks totally vintage!
