Daughter #2 gave me some of her old ABU pants for the fabric because I wanted to make a bag. I found a tutorial at We All Sew for a bucket bag that looked like just the ticket!

I also had this key chain that I wanted to incorporate.
It took a bit of creative piecing to get a flat piece this size. I was able to use three of the pockets in it.
I don’t normally sew bags, but I’m pretty happy with how this turned out!
It is pretty roomy, I tucked a throw quilt inside.
The rope serves as closure as well as back pack straps.
Daughter #3 graciously served as model.
Have a great day!

That is a great use of her pants. I love it!!! I have some pants here too from my son, I should try something like that, but I’m much better at making quilts…lol
What an awesome bag. It’s a great idea to re-use pants.
Love the way you incorporated the pockets into the design. Makes it even more practical! Great job, Katy.
Nice idea! The bag is cute ♥

Cool beans!! I have some of my son-in-law’s camo pants. I used some of the fabric to make the back side of my granddaughter’s (his daughter) Christmas stocking. I also used a few bits in a paper pieced pillow for my stepson.
This is so awesome, Katy! And the personal connection being from your daughter’s clothing, rather than yardage purchased at a store makes it even better!! Thanks so much for sharing!!
Love it – you did a terrific job!
Oooh! I like it. It turned out really nice!
I really like the bag and the key chain is just the right accessory. I’ll be looking for that pattern on We all Sew.
That is SOOOO cool!!
That is great! Hugs,
Fabulous! And you know it will wear like iron.
Very well done Katy !
Lovely bag! You are blessed to have children that appreciate your skill too! Kathi
That’s really cute!!!
Katy,
What a great idea! I have a feeling this might be on my to do list pretty soon. Thanks for the share
