Tuesday

I finished the baby quilt top that I showed yesterday.

I realized while putting this together that some of the blocks seemed a wee bit inappropriate for a baby quilt.

I just can’t put a block in a baby quilt that says to party in  Vegas! So I pieced some scraps together for a couple blocks so I could cut that part out. And I bet you can’t even find them in the picture above!

Then I went digging through my stash to find something for the back and found this.

At first, I thought it was perfect. But now I’m second guessing myself.

Too busy? Maybe I’ll keep looking while I ponder how to quilt this. I should probably look for binding at the same time.

  1. What a precious quilt!

I know what you mean about having appropriate words on a quilt. I usually shy away from fabrics with wording and most especially if it’s in a script or language I don’t understand!

  3. Great quilt. And even better back! That’s an awesome print.

  4. I like the backing fabric and would use it if it was my quilt. 🙂 I like the top *so* much! Great job!

  5. Perfect backing! I don’t understand why some people audition the backing as if it will be seen with the top; it really never will. You either see the top or you see the back, so the two don’t really have to do that well together!

  6. I think the backing looks great and compliments the front very nicely. And great eyes / good catch about the print with Vegas on it!

If it’s for a girl quilt, i’d definitely use that backing.

Some babies are crazy enough to have a party in Vegas! Lol. I’m loving the low volume background, always a winner in my book. 🙂 I like the backing as well, nice and bright!

I love the quilt! Can you tell us what size the squares were cut? Thanks

The quilt colors and fabrics look so perfect Katy! Love the colors set against the low volume background too. LOL – yeah Vegas had to go. That backing fabric isn’t a muted in tone, but I think it makes a nice contrast.

Looks great! I laughed when I saw the close up of the Vegas fabric. I look forward to seeing the finish. Hugs,

  12. it’s a great quilt! and you’re right- I couldn’t find the pieced block… I think that pink flowers is cute fro the backing- it livens and brightens it up a bit. a solid color border would be nice, if you’re worried…

  13. Val says:

I like that pink fabric for the backing. At first, I thought you were going to use it as a border – it would be rather distracting in that setting.

Love the quilt. Think I’ll have to look for that ruler…can’t have too many rulers. That backing certainly picks up the colors; I’d consider using it, even if a bit more intense.

I think it gives it a pop of color, but looks like it is for a girl. Hope that is where your going with this one. Love the pattern have to put this on my list to try.
