Design Wall Monday

I am home again! Because of a winter snowstorm due to arrive in Wisconsin today, I left a day early making an already short trip, even shorter! I had several hours of nasty roads to contend with still but I made it. I am thankful for a day off today, though I have plenty to do.

This is what I had on my design wall when I left town.

This will be a simple baby quilt for a shower Daughter #3 is going to. I hope to finish this top today and get it in the frame.

I stopped at one quilt shop on my way home last week. It is Jeri’s Quilt Patch in Norway, Michigan. It is a lovely shop. I found some Metropolitan Fair fabric for a border for my churn dash quilt.

I also picked up a roll of fat quarters. She makes up bundles with fabrics from several different fabric lines. I liked this one because of the shirting prints.

This roll of 10 FQs was only $15.

I also stopped at a Good Will along the way and picked up these three feed sacks for $1.99!

There really are three there but two are the same print. I also got this yard of vintage Santas.

It is only 36 inches from selvedge to selvedge.

Time to get to work! Linking up with Patchwork Times for DWMonday and Stitch by Stitch for Anything Goes.

About katyquilts

I am a wife, mom of four amazing kids, and a librarian. I have been making traditional quilts for ages but have ventured into art qulting in the last several years. I also love to knit socks and mittens and dye my own fabric. I am thankful to God my Father and Creator for the gift of creativity!

  1. Nice shirtings. I think I would have been tempted too. Glad you beat the storm. The weather people keep saying Virginia is going to get hit with really cold weather soon too. Thank goodness I have a toasty warm studio to work in!

Nice baby quilt: simple and restful, I don’t think babies need dazzle. Great shopping finds too.

I’m glad you made it home safely, Katy. It’s too bad you had to cut your trip short. I love all the fabrics you picked up last week. Can’t wait to see what you do with the border fabric! And I adore the vintage Santas.

  4. Wow I love your Good Will finds – beautiful star – can’t wait to see what you do with that.

Lucky girls with your score from Goodwill! I haven’t found anything fun recently!

I am sure it is sinful to be jealous, but I really am jealous of all those great fabric finds. 🙂 In other news, our 26″ Handi Quilter will be at our shop in about three weeks, and our current Avante sold today, so we have room! I am so excited you would think one or both were coming to my house.

That 36″ fabric brings back memories … I remember when fabrics were only 36″ … boy, I just dated myself, didn’t I? 😉
