We are getting ready for a garage sale here so I am not sewing as much as I would like this week. But I still have plenty of quilty stuff to share!
I made this quilt 21 years ago while awaiting the birth of Daughter #3. It is hand quilted and hand embroidered. I started it on a trip home to see my family when I had failed to bring a project to work on.
I know! What WAS I thinking?
Anyway, I took a trip to the local Ben Franklin with my mom and bought a set of Aunt Martha iron on transfers and embroidery supplies. The center of this quilt is actually a flour sack towel that I bought. My mom showed me how to do a simple embroidery stitch and the rest is history.
Now, ancient history!
Baby E has been using it this week at my house.
Daughter #3 reminded me that it belonged to her and looked on in horror when I changed a diaper on it.
I am starting a new quilt for the babies to use here…..

That’s sweet that it still holds meaning and memories for your daughter 🙂 Thanks for sharing at Quilty Flashback Friday, hope you’ll share again!
LOL- picturing your daughter’s face during that diaper change! The quilt is gorgeous- and has a great origin story!
Your daughter’s reaction is awesome! Glad you’ve decided to make a replacement!
The embroidery is great! I’ve not tried that yet – but it’s on my quilty bucket list.
What a beautiful quilt, and how cool that it is still being loved and used 21 years later!
this just made me LOL hey she cares about the quilt you made her thats great! I love the embroidery and that you took the time to hand quilt it. It really is a treasure.
