Design Wall Oops!

The May challenge for the Small Quilt Talk group has been issued, a sweet little 6″ flower block made with snowball blocks. I wanted smaller blocks, like 4″. I failed to resize my corner triangles and got this:

Um, yeah, not at all what I was looking for. Click here to see what this is supposed to look like.

Need more coffee….

I did finish quilting this quilt.

And I had a bit of batting leftover for practice.

Then I changed thread color and started over on the same piece.

Not pretty but a good way to save on materials when practicing.

Don’t give up on your block! I would trim it a smidge so that there’s a 1/4″ beyond the pink and green seam. Make some more, and you’ve got a quilt of your own creation! Mistakes can be happy accidents!

  2. I love the two color practice! I’m going to copy your technique to get extra practice in. Thanks for linking up to Anything Goes Monday!

On the contrary, I think the double feathering is lovely!

I love what you did with the feather and the two different colors.

Great quilting! I especially like the sun design on the practice piece.

Your quilting is lovely! And the blue box quilt looks intriguing. Quilting mistakes do happen to all of us… keeps us humble. 🙂
