Fast and Slow

That sums up my sewing goals for today.

I worked on my hexies last night and hope to do more today.
I also added borders and got this top loaded into the frame. Still pondering quilting designs but I want to get this quilted today also. It shouldn’t take long once I get started.

All of that has been helping me to avoid this:

I did make progress. I now have all the blocks, sashing, and cornerstones together. And I remembered a piece if Kansas Troubles fabric from another line that I had in my stash. If you remember, I realized I had not purchased enough for the borders and this is an older fabric line that is no longer available. I didn’t want to buy any more fabric for this quilt anyway. I am trying to decide if this morning glory print works.

I have plenty of this print. The colors are a good match except that this border introduces a bit of dark blue. I think I like it better with an inner border of this red.

I have to make a decision on this really soon if I am going to make my self imposed deadline. I am also thinking about how I will quilt this. It might end up with a panto.

These are words I am pondering today:
As you share your faith with others, I pray they may come to know all the blessings Christ has given us. My friend, your love has made me happy and has greatly encouraged me. It has also cheered the hearts of God’s people. (Philemon 1:6, 7 CEVDCUS06)

I want to be that person, the one others can look at and understand God’s blessings, the one that cheers the hearts of God’s people.

Linking up with Kathy Quilts for Slow Stitching Sunday.

I also spent Sunday doing fast and slow stitching… just finding time to go back to Kathy’s and see who linked up yesterday 🙂 Happy to find your blog! Love all your piecing and quilting… I hand quilt and don’t longarm or machine quilt but I machine piece… sometimes and am working on that skill currently! With good results but still room for improvement… Glad I stopped in! Kathi

I like the red inner board also! KT fabrics always seem to go together. May your have a blessed day!

  5. Cathie J says:

I think those fabrics look great. The red inner border really complements the quilt top.

  6. Jan/WI says:

Really like the red inner border with the Kansas Trouble print. Enjoy reading your blog and seeing the progress you make.

  7. Deanna says:

I love KT fabrics…old or newer they all seem to go together. The inner red border does work well too!

Love your hexies and blocks. You were that person for me today.

  9. Love your photo with the thimble and scissors! 🙂

  10. Lois says:

I really like the option of including the red inner boarder, Katy. The contrast of red between the dark blue and the cream sashing/background makes the blocks pop. (Still one of my favs.)

  11. knitnkwilt says:

I agree that the Kansas Trouble fabric looks good, especially with the narrow border.

  12. I’m a big fan of narrow inner borders … especially red ones! And I think that KT fabric goes quite well with the top (one of the reasons why I love KT fabrics!). Praying that others will see God through you.
