This week I finished both quilts from my SQT signature swaps. Here is the first one hanging in my foyer. These were both on my list for the FAL 2014, original post here.
I can’t get a straight on shot where it is hanging. This fits perfectly on the place I wanted to hang it. Here is a detail of the border quilting.
This snowball quilt has 4.5 inch finished blocks.
I really struggled with the thread on this one. I used the Premosoft from Fil-Tec with matching bobbins. It kept wanting to break and shred when quilting right to left. Very frustrating. My crosshatching looks okay in pictures but up close, it is not good. I learned a lot doing this one and that is always good. After washing and shrinking, I am happy with it. However, I am still not showing the back!
Today I am working with a friend who wants to learn to quilt. I can’t wait!
I am linking up with Sarah at Confessions of a Fabric Addict, Sew Can She, and Amanda at Crazy Mom Quilts.
Happy Friday!
Both quilts look great! I like that border pattern too. Was that a pantograph?
Oh I adore that quilting in the borders! Beautiful quilts!
I like them both. A lot! You did a great job of quilting them, too, as far as I can see from here. 🙂
I especially like your border quilting that looks like cathedral windows.
I’ve always wanted to do a siggy swap. THese are fun!
Both lovely!
Lovely quilts!
Isn’t it wonderful when a quilt is just perfect for our home? They both look great!
I love how both of them turned out! Your quilting is wonderful. Have fun with your friend quilting. Hugs,
First of all, letting you know I picked up your blog from Lori’s “Tell Us About Your Blog” post at her “The Inbox Jaunt” blog (http://theinboxjaunt.com/2014/01/24/open-line-friday-tell-us-about-your-blog/).
Love, love, love both of these quilts and the quilting on them is great! I particularly liked the stitch pattern used on the border of the first one. I see you longarm — -did you mark this, use a ruler or pantograph or freehand it? I will have to print this out and put in in my “Stitch Ideas” binder. Thanks for sharing on both venues!
These quilts are great! Love the quilting in the border of the first! Will have to remember that one!!
I agree, what I wouldn’t give for a quilting buddy that lived close!!
What gorgeous quilts! And what fun you will have teaching your friend to quilt! What I wouldn’t give for a quilting buddy!
